All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium
The biggest Yankee-related news that came out of Tuesday were the reports that the 2008 All-Star game will be held at the Stadium.
From a practical standpoint, what this means is the Yankees and their construction people will be highly motivated to make sure the new Stadium will be ready for the 2009 season. The last thing anybody wants is to say good-bye to the old place in 2008 only to say hello again.
Only two more seasons at the old Stadium. New York baseball is going to change quite a bit with two new parks.

Since I’ve never gone to an All-Star game, and being a season ticket holder for the past ten years, all I can say is AWWWWRIIIIIIGHT!! That’s gonna be soooo cool.
do you have any info on the new park that perhaps they havent released to the public? or maybe some update on construction images as they go along? i would think they’ve been very appreciative of the warm winter weather so far, which i’d think would help keep the construction plans on track…
oh yeah, and one quick question, pete- any chance you can score me a pass or 2 to the HR derby?
Quick question From Western Canada: I am planning a trip to NYC with my Dad this summer. Of course we want to go to a Yanks’ game or three but it would also be cool to tour the stadium when the team was out of town.
A few years ago when I was a TV producer I had permission to walk the field during a visit, which I sadly could not make time for. Is there any chance of walking out to the pitcher’s mound these days? (I would so much enjoy taking a picture of Dad on that pitcher’s mound.)
I would rather the All-Star game be held at the new Stadium in 2010.
Flaz,
The Yanks do offer tours:
