Rasner did not give up an earned run in Oakland and had given up 1 run in the 5th inning today. It was a quick hook by any measure.

I took it as Sheff was referring to ARod. But it’s too early to speculate. We’ll have to read the book and see what he says.

BTW, on the new blog design, sometimes the “submit comment” button is grayed out, and I can’t click on it. I have to go back, then click on comments again, and re-enter my comment, then click the button. Anyone else have this happen?

I don’t think Sheff was talking about ARod. He and ARod appeared to be friends while he was a Yankee. Then again, this is Gary Sheffield so who knows.

Wasnt the original trade that Mike Gonzalez and another played would go to the Braves for Laroche and then the braves would spin off Gonzalez to the yanks for melky or proctor? I thought that was the trade because the pirates needed a power slugger in their lineup, the braves needed a young outfielder with some pop to take over for A jones and the yanks wanted a lefty reliever. If that was the deal, what did the braves all of a sudden decide they would rather have a lefty reliever than an outfielder?

If Vizcaino is a lock for the pen, Britton should be a lock as well. Britton had a better whip, better walks per nine, better era and pitched in the AL.
