I’m hanging out at my parent’s house this weekend and it’s bitterly cold. And there probably won’t be much baseball news for a few days because of the Super Bowl.
Ron from Pennsylvania e-mailed with a report on the Scranton Yankees.
He said that virtually all of the lower level seats are sold for the season and that the community there is embracing the Class AAA franchise. PNC Field has a new grass field and other improvements.
“I live about 10 miles away and can’t believe it’s almost 20 years since the place opened,” Ron says. “The stadium is in a great setting with a mountain/cliff back drop that closes in the outfield. I was there a few weeks ago, looks like a long way to go with the new grass surface but they’re making progress. Come on down for Opening Day on April 5, and see Mr. Hughes!”
According to Mapquest, the field (which is actually in Moosic) is only 125 miles from New York City. Given the pitchers they’re going to have there, it would be a worthwhile trip.
If anybody on the blog goes to a minor league game, please feel free to e-mail back your impressions of certain players and I’ll publish them. It’s as much your blog as it is mine.
Thanks to Ron for the update.
