Job search continues for some players

Eddie Guardado just signed a minor-league deal with the Reds. But there remain a handful of notable players still on the free-agent market. The list includes:

3B David Bell
2B Ronnie Belliard
OF Jeromy Burnitz
OF Steve Finley
OF Shannon Stewart
RHP Steve Trachsel
LHP Ron Villone
OF Bernie Williams

I spoke to Villone a few weeks ago and he seemed confident of landing a multi-year deal with an AL team. But it hasn’t happened yet.

His poor August and September statistics cost him in the market. It wouldn’t be a bad idea for the Yankees to bring him back on a minor-league deal. If they decide they want two lefties in the pen, there are limited options.

Sean Henn and Ben Kozlowski are the only lefty relievers in camp other than Mike Myers.
