I was the one who asked about former players being involved with the team in the mailbag questions a couple weeks ago, so I love seeing these old names. I’m particularly stoked about seeing Goose on the list and my childhood hero “Puff” Nettles. I spent hours in the backyard growing up in Jersey emulating Graig, and I agree with SAM that I hope he works a bit with ARod. Not bashing Alex (as vogue as it seems to be), but it can’t hurt having one of the best all-time hot corner dudes doling out some advice.

Thanks Cliff, I was just wondering. I couldn’t imagine him squatting down to show the youngsters how to catch. Just wanted to know his role.

RBJ, I’d think Yogi Berra knows a thing or two about being a successful baseball player. The wisdom of elders is a very valuable thing. Beyond that, what better way to inspire a team than to have the man who won more World Series than any one else in baseball history hanging around camp and flashing his rings?

Wow – blast from the past!
When I was a kid I went to the first ever Bat Day at the Stadium, and I got a Hector Lopez bat. Always had a soft spot for the guy since then. You know what he has been up to beside guest instructing in ST?
