Kei Igawa is adjusting to life with the Yankees and he’s getting help from the son of a sumo wrestler.
There is still no sign of Bernie Williams here in Tampa. This notebook also includes Jorge Posada’s take on Phil Hughes.

Peter:
Is Melky’s position safe now? I’m still worried about a spring surprise trade.
Also, do you think Igawa is the “real deal”? He seems to have a lot of drive and heart. That goes a long way in the majors.
Your blog is the greatest! Thanks for all of your hard work.
Very enjoyable article about Igawa.
If Bernie comes to camp, I can’t see Joe cutting him. And really, if it comes down to your season depending on having Phillips or Phelps on your roster instead of Bernie, it’s probably going to be a short playoff anyway.
One thing that kind of worries me is the fact that if Bernie makes the team, the everyday lineup is going to be real lefty heavy – 6 leftys 2 righties and a switch hitter, but they are all good hitters and you do face far more RHP’s. Plus some of those LH’s hit lefties pretty well.
The lineup should be pretty good no matter what. As usual, it all comes down to pitching. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
