A-Rod admits to rift with Jeter

Peter Abraham
February
19

Sorry for the delay, we’ve been very busy here as you might imagine.

Alex Rodriguez, for the first time, admitted that his relationship with Derek Jeter is not what it used to be. It was an interesting interview with Alex that you will soon be able to listen to here.

He said he wants to be a Yankee but did not rule out using his opt-out clause at the end of the season.

Unfortunately, Jeter had left Legends Field before we could get his reaction. And Joe Torre left early because he wasn’t feeling well.

You got to love the media. They’ve been trying and saying this for 4 years and now that Alex finally says something like it they go nuts. Like its huge news that he finally admitted to portions of it.

Poor Jeter, he’s going to get MOBBED tomorrow.

I feel bad for Alex and myself in the sense that there’s a good chance he might leave the team because a bunch of dumb fans, moronic sports commentators (*cough* MikeandtheMadDog *cough*), etc. think he isn’t cutting the mustard in pinstripes. What do you say to a guy who, in the three years with your team, has hit 119 home runs, 476 RBI, and roughly a .400 OBP? Sorry, you’re not good?

    Peter:
I’m not sure where you get that A-Rod says that there’s “a rift” between he and Jeter. I didn’t get that at all from the audio at all. It sounds like he was saying that they used to be very good friends and hang out when they were young, now they get along ok but aren’t real tight and don’t hang out much anymore. And he still said that the relationship is better than what “most of you guys expect.” Why does the media try to make a huge deal and create more conflict out of every benign comment? It’s ridiculous.

Plus…didn’t Jeter say this like 4 years ago when they were interviewed by ESPN, that their relationship has changed over time…family, teams, cities, age. I am so sick of this. It is a non-story. But thanks for the audio, it is spinless!

Bernie did not show, cannot say that I am sad, but I am not giddy either.
