Peter Abraham
February

On a happier note, here is some audio from Johnny Damon.

There aren’t many pressing issues regarding Johnny. We asked about his health, his second year with the Yankees and some other stuff.

Pete, stop being so damn prolific. I am at work and have things to do! You posting all this great stuff throughout the day is seriously impacting my productivity. Seriously, dude, this volume of great material is going to cost me my job, and then I’ll have to make a living following you around and carrying your luggage ;)

On the other hand, I can always find a new job in October. Keep it up!

Did Johnny hit anyone with a chair?

  3. Tyler

Hey Pete, I thought you did a great job on ESPN News yesterday and I read your blog everyday. Keep up the good work.

“You posting all this great stuff throughout the day is seriously impacting my productivity.”

Well, I’m glad it’s not just me. :)

  5. Fan27

    Who is Johnny Damon?

You mean there are other people on this team besides Jeter, Alex, Mo, Mussina, Pavano and Hughes???? :)

or me!! :) i keep checking back for updates.

    Or me! :)

I not only love the original posts, but I really love reading everyone’s thoughts about what’s going on. It’s so interesting to me, the similarities and differences.

  8. Rich

A-Rod would benefit by becoming 50% as easy going as Damon.

  9. SJ44

The entire team would be benefitted by being more like JD.

The guy has the perfect attitude for playing in NY.

JMO, but the departure of Johnson and Sheffield will make the locker room a bit more laid back this season.

Who can forget Johnny trying to get the guys going in September only to be given an “I can kill you” look by Johnson, prompting Damon to think he had done something wrong.

After this two day ARod-Jeter soap opera and the “will Bernie show up” show, I think you will see a lot more laid back Yankees team this year.

I say this because, reading the tea leaves, this is the last hurrah for this team.

Joe and ARod will probably not be back after this season. Who knows what happens with Posada and Mo. Pavano? Well, you have to be here in the first place in order to have a “last hurrah”.

Seriously though, I think this team knows this is it. With the way Cashman is remaking the pitching roster, and his commitment to lowering payroll and getting younger next year, knowing this is the last hurrah, will make guys play more relaxed. Hopefully, that translates to a good season and a much better post-season result.

Johnny is definitely a HUGE addition to the team and clubhouse, that did show tremendously last year with a more laid back team, despite the grumpy old men… Now that they’re gone, should see an even more relaxed and hopefully cohesive team, and a lot of WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW’s, including 11 very big ones in October.

  11. asburyboss

I wish Damon would share his weed with AROD

Thanks for the audio Pete. Problem is, I spend much of the day in public so I have to wait to hear the audio. Great addition, though.

  13. brockdc

I know this is blasphemy, but Damon’s one of my favorite Yankees.

  14. Cail

Pete, I miss your summaries of the interviews. I can’t listen to the sound posts at work.

  15. nemecizer

Cail, I never thought I’d say it, but he’s becoming one of my favorites as well. I was against the signing because I thought he was over-rated and because he was part of the 2004 Red Sox (that Grand Salami in Game 7 broke my heart). But he is definitely winning me over.

  16. Chris NY

brockdc, not at all, he’s a Yankee and seems to be a great guy…
