Heard there were some technical difficulties on the blog this morning. But we’re back.

Mike Mussina has become a mentor to some of the young pitchers with the Yankees.

Stop us if you’ve heard this before, but Carl Pavano was hurt again. But it’s not serious. Within this notebook is some news on Johnny Damon being away for a few days.

There’s a pro baseball league starting up in Israel and a Westchester man is trying out. And he’s 51.

Great Article on Mussina. I’m glad he’s mentoring young pitchers and helping them

You need to fix some typos Pete.

Thanks for a nice article on Moose.

Thx Pete! And that last bit was really random XD
BTW, what are they going to be doing today?

Also I forgot to add this, but has anyone read Ted Robinsons blog on MSNBC?
“The new Bronx Zoo: Jealousy, ego, pride, and venom engulf the Yankees”
Ummmmm, is he serious? Pete, is it really that bad down there?

Damn, I need to stop trying to write before I am fully awake. Fixed the typos.

As for Ted Robinson, you mean the former Mets announcer? He hasn’t been here, that’s all I know.

Its always amazing to me how members of the media can comment on happenings when they aren’t there to witness what’s going on.

Yeah, the jealousy has KILLED the Yankees in recent years. What is it, 9 straight division titles? Yes, horrors, they didn’t win the World Series since 2000. But, of course, it has to do with Jealousy. It can’t possibly be pitching, can it? Nope, that wouldn’t make a good story.

    Peter,
Great article on Moose. I have a question about him. I always read interesting quotes from Moose in the paper on a variety of subjects, but then when I see him being interviewed on YES, post-start, he looks uncomfortable and annoyed (whether he threw a shutout or got shelled).

Is that fair? Is it just that he doesn’t like talking about his own pitching?

    Thanks.

I think Moose is great during postgame interviews. He has an aridly dry sense of humor, and he doesn’t suffer fools gladly. It’s very entertaining.

Moose isn’t really much of a people person, from what I hear.

Yeah, this all comes as a surprise about Moose. He struck me as a really weird, introverted guy, but he did seem like he started being more vocal over the last couple seasons, perhaps it has something to do with Torre talking to him about Randy. I just always think about when he sat in his room and at peanut butter sandwiches the entire time the team was in Japan. Craziness.

Anyway, on another note, I know Jeter hates them, but has anyone tried on the spring training hats? They’re ridiculously comfortable. They’re really soft.

The truly sad thing about the Israel Baseball League is that they have not set up a Hebrew website as far as I can tell. Though the glossary of baseball terms is amusing. “Hom Roon!!!”

I will not rest until I know how to throw a curveball and how to say it in Hebrew.

It seems to me that Mike is uncomfortable having a camera stuck in is face. He is more easy going in radio interviews.

My former rabbi from growing up was actually offered a minor league contract by (I think) the Tigers after college, but wanted to pursue religious study instead.
