1-0 Reggies; update on Bobby Abreu

The Reggies have taken a 1-0 lead. Jose Tabata walked and scored on a long double to center by Juan Miranda. Steven Jackson was pitching for the Yogis.

Jeff Karstens and Chase Wright have combined on a one-hit shutout through three innings against the Yogis. If this keeps up the Daily News will try to fire Torre again.

Meanwhile, we spoke to Bobby Abreu before the game. He said he had never strained an oblique muscle before but is confident that he will be ready for Opening Day.

“Oh yeah, it’s not going to be that long,” he said. “It’ll take a couple weeks. I’ll get treatment and I’ll be ready for the season.”

Pete, are the pitchers on a pitch count or an innings count (unless they’re getting beaned, of course)?

Funniest line of the day. I might just hang that on my cubicle wall.
