5-1 Yogis after five innings

Peter Abraham
February
27

I’m going to have to boogie on down to the clubhouse soon but there has been some action for the Yogis against RHP Jeff Kennard:

Melky: Double
Minky: Walk
Reese: RBI single
Gonzalez: RBI single, second on the throw
Cairo: RBI single
Basak: RBI single

The inning was then declared over; 5-1 Yogis through five.

who’s Basak? so they called the game after 5?

  2. Phil

Basak’s an infielder we signed, he as a minor league FA who’d been with the Mets.

Pete, WordPress is killing the great work you are doing today.

Also, I hope they give Gonzalez a shot at beating out Cairo…

  3. Jimmy Bean

Why? Cairo can actually play all positions on the infield well, catcher, and has played the outfield, as far as I know Gonzalez has only played SS. Although he plays a great SS, I’d rather have the flexibility that Cairo offers.

  4. RollingWave

Ahem, logically, if you could play SS you could most likely play a good 3B / 2B as well, and with a little work on the pick you should play a exellent 1B, there are reasons why besides pitchers and catcher, you usually put ur best fielder at SS.

    A-Rod says hello.

so did he get anyone out?? or did they just put him out if his misery??

  7. jonathan

love the game recap…i feel like i am there. Keep it up!

  8. Zack

Pete, your humor and updates are getting me through what is shapping up to be a nasty and gross rainy/cold day here in San Diego (the horror, the horror). I am so itching for Thursday to watch game #1 already!

  9. 10019

    Is Thursdays game televised?

  10. 10019

Never mind just saw the Yesnetwork websit. Woo Hoo! Ill have to remember to DVR that when I get home.

Pete, as Phil and others have mentioned, what’s with Word Press?

It’s making it exceedingly difficult to get into the comments section of your posts!

Oh, got it, it’s ARod’s fault. That’s gotten rather old, but what else can it be?!

  12. intrasquad guy

so what was the final score?

  13. YankeeMel

The Yogis vs the Reggies reminds me of Laff-A-Lympics. i.e. the Yogi Yahooies vs the Scooby Doobies vs the Really Rottens

  14. JDnotDrew

Word Press is killin me. It’s seems to be getting much worse. Anyone got any solutions? Great coverage though Pete. Good to see the Melk-man swinging the bat good. Can’t wait till Thurs. GO YANKS!!!

Have to agree with NotDrew – WordPress does not seem to be able to handle the high traffic. This could become more of an issue during the regular season when traffic picks up. Or ever worse during BoSawx/Yankees games as well as the playoffs.

This is what you get for a really popular blog and great work!

Well, looks like Kennard is a long shot for Scranton….
