Ron Guidry audio from today

Peter Abraham
February
27

For the first time this season, here is some audio from pitching coach Ron Guidry. We wanted to ask him about Kei Igawa.

The Gator is standing in the hallway outside the clubhouse, so the sound isn’t perfect. Plus he sounds a little like “Cajun Man” from “Saturday Night Live.”

Guidry was a little media-shy last season but he has warmed up to us this year.

OK first off can someone please shoot the tires off of that cart/truck that kept going in reverse with the beeping sounds lol.

Second I am no expert on pitching but this is the first time I have heard Guidry so easy to understand. His explanation of what Igawa was trying to accomplish today and what that means or doesnt mean long term was really helpful and really in layman terms that even I could understand it.

    Pete -

Love the audio, it really provides a great insight to the way these guys think. You could never get that from an interview published in a paper.

Also, you are doing this great work on the blog, don’t you think the paper could get you a digital camera so the pictures look better? The cell-phone camera only goes so far.

Mike: I am not a photographer. There are plenty of sites out there with photos. I’m a print reporter. It would be unprofessional of me to tote around a camera like I’m a tourist. The cell phone camera is just something to have fun with.

So you’re Peter Abraham NOT Peter Parker?

Some people here particpated in a Community Projection for Carl Pavano.

If anyone would now like to contribute to a Community Projection for Kei Igawa, I have it up on my blog now, and would appreciate any participation.

Pete, I thought the audio quality was fine. The background noise was distracting, but there’s not so much you can do about that.

Gayle — I agree with you. Guidry made himself very clearly understood in his explanation of what they were looking for with Igawa.

It was nice to hear someone other than Torre speak about a pitcher.

    Peter,

The audio of Joe and Gator are really great. I really appreciate getting the whole interview, instead of the “snippets” that usually accompany the other print media.

Kudos….it’s really wetting my appetite for the coming season!

    From the Post:
“Andy Pettitte will play golf today with (future teammate?) Roger Clemens”
Hopefully Andy is at least mentioning the idea of them being reunited in pinstripes again.
