Bobby Abreu will be out two weeks and probably more with a strained oblique muscle. But Carl Pavano is making progress.

Johnny Damon returned to camp and it looks like Chien-Ming Wang will be the Opening Day starter.

Long day at the yard today. Morning workout followed by the intrasquad game at 12:30. We’ll post the lineups when we get them.

“I don’t know how committed I was. But I’m definitely committed now.” — Pavano.

    Well that’s an interesting comment.

“Which legend will manage the home team?
“We’re going to flip a coin,” Torre said. “But Yogi will win the flip.”"

As it should be. And Wang the Opening Day starter? It appears Torre is getting less sentimental in his old age, I’d have thought Moose or Andy had the inside track.

Mr. Vegas: Pavano hung himself with that comment.
