Yogi Berra in the house

Yogi Berra arrived in camp today as did Mickey Rivers and Frank Howard.
How much respect do the Yankees have for Yogi? Pitching coach Ron Guidry went to the airport to pick him up. Wonder if he had a cap and a little sign?
I’ve been doing this too long to be overly impressed with seeing famous athletes. But meeting Sandy Koufax at the Mets camp a few years ago was fun and it’s a kick with somebody like Yogi shakes your hand and says, “How you doing, kid?”
Anybody wants to call me kid, that’s OK with me.
No lineups for the intrasquad game yet. It’s kind of an overcast day here in Tampa.

LOL …. good one, Pete. I can just see Gator with a “Mr. Berra” sign.
Mickey Rivers, huh? What’s Mick the Quick’s capacity there, Pete? I don’t remember seeing his name on the list of instructors, unless I just overlooked it.
Yogi’s not only a former ballplayer and Yankee great, he’s an American Icon!
Sandy Koufax? How was he? Was he cool to talk to? I’ve heard he can be pretty reclusive. As far as Yogi, next time you see him, ask him if he remembers DiMaggio giving him the death stare after sitting out the 2nd game of a doubleheader during a pennant race. Or is that taboo?
That picture of Yogi is perfect, his easy smile shows how warm and open he’s always been. Right there, approachable. Things the Great DiMaggio wasn’t capable of.
