Yogis win intrasquad game 5-1

Peter Abraham
February
27

The game ended 5-1 for the Yogis. Mr. Berra was quite pleased although he didn’t like it when they cut that one inning short. “We could have scored a few more runs,” he said.

Sorry about the technical issues with the blog. I’m not sure what the problem is but I do know they’re in the process of increasing server capacity, so hopefully it will be solved soon.

Meanwhile …

Joe Torre and Ron Guidry seem pretty pleased with Kei Igawa. He worked fast, threw strikes and seemed comfortable on the mound. Igawa told us he didn’t use his curveball as he’s still working on it. Joe liked what he saw from Steven Jackson and Jeff Karstens, too.

I’ll post some audio from Joe Torre and (hopefully) Ron Guidry soon.

The technical problem is indeed strange: “cannot connect to database”?

Baseball is back, what’s more exciting than that? So is it safe to say that the Yankees will confirm their 4th starter soon?

Hopefully Kei keeps ‘em beating it into the dirt. He’s not going to be a strikeout guy. Love the fact he works fast, and so will his defense.

    Peter, sir, you rock.

Question: Does Igawa throw similar sinkers like Wang? Is that why he keeps getting groundballs?

  5. Jim

…but he was a strikout guy in the homeworld…

Agreed. He did strike out a lot of guys in Japan. But ’round these parts, you want to rack up a lot of K’s you have to blow it by people. Igawa’s stuff doesn’t percolate towards that end, or at least that’s the scouting I’ve read.

I think this guy could be key to a successful Yankee campaign this year and I’m aching to get a look at him on the hill. Then we’ll all know what he’s got.

EVEN GOD LOVES THE NEW YORK YANKEES!!!

what was your take/impressions of Igawa?
