Quick day at the ballpark
The Yankees will have their workout wrapped up by noon today. With any kind of luck, I’ll be walking out of Legends Field by 3 p.m.
Working on a story on the curious case of Matt DeSalvo. He has gone from nearly being called up to taken off the 40-man roster in less than a year. He’s an interesting guy to talk to but hard to interview because he talks in circles.
He has made a bit of a comeback this month after a rocky 2006 (6-10, 6.40 at Columbus and Trenton). Pitching coordinator Nardi Contreras is a fan of his.
I’ll check back later once we speak to Joe Torre.

Good idea! He talks in circles? I believe he is also a “novelist” so you might want to ask him about that.
Boy, it’s going to be withdrawal time today after all the great updates the last few days. Thank God exhibition games start tomorrow though!
Sad when things slip away a bit for a kid who looked promising. Apparently he just got lapped by the development and acquisition of more talented guys, and now as a 26 yr old AA starter, it looks like it’s to the pen or another org. Kind of reminiscent of Sam Millitello. Hope he pulls it together again.
what is a pitching coordinator?
I’m shocked no team picked him up. What are teams thinking? Live arms are a commodity. You have to take chances. Love what Cash does with the market. Bruney, Rasner, etc.
