Wang, Hughes, Beam, Ohlendorf, Vizcaino, Myers and Veras combined on a five-hitter with three walks and three K’s.

The Yankees had 11 guys get one hit each. Giambi scored twice and had the two-run homer.

Jorge Posada said Wang had trouble locating his sinker but still got outs because even when it’s up, it’s hard to get in the air. Hughes was overstriding, which led to him rushing his delivery.

“All correctable,” Hughe said. “I knew what I was doing but by then it was too late.”

Torre again liked what he saw from Ohlendorf.
