Yankees just can’t lose

The Yankeez (2-0) held on to beat Tampa Bay 3-1 before a sellout crowd of 6,508 at Al Lang Field. I’d wager that 75 percent of them were Yankee fans.

Pitching lines for the Yankees:

Pettitte: 2 0 0 0 0 1 (good change, good curve, cruised)

Rasner: 2 1 0 0 0 1 (he and Karstens could fight for the last spot in the pen)

Proctor: 1 1 0 0 0 0 (good velocity, happy with his outing)

Britton: 1 1 0 0 0 1 (taking advantage of Brian Bruney’s absence)

Villone: 1 2 1 0 0 1 (made a throwing error that cost him an unearned run)

Bean: 1 0 0 0 0 1 (is there such a thing as a right-handed specialist? He’s hard to hit)

Whelan 1 0 0 0 1 0 (got a chance to close and held on despite a walk)

No audio today. I’m on dial-up and it would take hours to move audio files. You’re not missing much anyway. Road games are like that.
