Off to prehistoric Winter Haven

The Yankees play the Indians today at old Chain Of Lakes Park in Winter Haven. The game starts at 1:05 p.m.

Chain Of Lakes does not have much in the way of internet access as I recall. Now with the Indians leaving after 2008 to go to Arizona, it may not have much in the way of electricity and chairs.

I should be able to get a lineup posted, but beyond that it could get tricky. We had to share two phones last season.

We here at the blog will do the best we can. But today is a day where you just may have to get some work done. Tackle the Pensky file or hire an intern for Kramerica, Inc.

Then again, you could just get in the comments section and argue about Alex Rodriguez.

Be back later.

Pete, saw a quote from MO, that he was going to try Knuckle ball next week. There was no real context so I couldn’t tell if he was joking or not. Seemed like a joke. You got anything on that?

MLB.com has been updating games every half inning during the spring; you could always check that out. Or if you have the audio/video subscription, the game is on the Indians’ radio flagship.

The Pensky file. Ho ho, can’t wait to sink my teeth into that. Wow that Pensky. Well we’ll straighten him out.

    Hey Pete,

With the Indians and Dodgers both leaving for Arizona after this year, what will be the total number of teams training in each state? I had always assumed there were far more in Florida but I’m wondering now if it is closer to 50/50.

    Thanks!

Sorry guys – I just closed the Penske deal. You’ll have to find something else to do today.

I’ll happily step up and interview the interns.
Pete, you could always use carrier pigeons — have them fly to Tampa and upload from there.

peter- why doesn’t the journal news get you some wireless equipment so you wouldn’t have to depend on inadequate spring training connections?

Folks at Vandalay Industries won’t be happy about this, and Mr. Kruger won’t know what to do with himself.

Let me check I have a meeting with a salesmen from Vandalay Industries this afternoon, maybe we can work something out.

You know, the Indians Winter Haven site would be nicer if the Indians would have committed to staying there. They got there in 1994 with a 10 year deal. By 2002, they were ready to leave – unfortunately – no other city wanted them! At least, refused to spend $30 plus million to build them a new ballpark.. so they kept complaining about Winter Haven and signing one year contracts.

The people of WH are thrilled they are leaving. The land will have nice homes (and lakefront too) and be worth plenty in property tax revenue (as opposed to the million plus dollars the city govt had to give the Indians each year).

That A-Rod guy. What ever are we going to do with him?

Believe it or not, I actually do have work to do. I’m glad I won’t worry I’m missing your blogs while I’m in my meetings all afternoon. Thanks for easing my mind Pete!
