Got back to the hotel today and had assorted work to do. The red light on the phone was blinking and the front desk said I had mail.
It was a note from my niece Leah and a neatly colored picture of Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
“To Uncle Pete,” it said. “I miss you. XXOX. I hope you are having fun in Florida XOOX. I love you. Leah! XOXOXXOO”
That’s a lot of hugs and kisses. And very nice writing for a 6-year-old.
Leah lives near Boston but loves Manhattan. We went to the Central Park Zoo and Radio City last time she visited. She digs the subway and the American Girl Doll store. Not in that order, of course.
I’m looking forward to taking her to a game in a few years.
