Are you close enough to the Indians’ radio broadcast team to send them a note that they don’t know what they are talking about? In Jeter’s AB alone, the one guy talked about how he remembered Jeter’s ML debut- Opening Day, 1996; that last year was Jeter’s career year (more of an opinion, but how can you say last year was better than 1999?) and that Jeter doesn’t K much.

As for game action, Damon led off with a walk; Jeter K’d; Damon stole 2nd; Matsui got an IF hit; and ARod grounded into a DP.

Wang’s first pitch to Grady Sizemore was an HR to left.

Hey Pete, check out this SI story linking John Rocker and David Bell to steroids

Weird. I remember in 2005 Wang gave up a HR to Sizemore on the first pitch to start the game too.

Good memory- it was 7/8/05 according to http://www.retrosheet.org

That announcer doesn’t have a very good memory. Jeter’s ML debut was 5/29/95 at Seattle.

    Pete,

I’m listening to the Cleveland broadcast and I’m hearing lots of Yankee fans, three Cleveland fans, and some vendor chanting “Cold Lemonade”. Can you hear that guy? Maybe you can buy a round for everyone so he can knock off early. lol.

Ann- Exactly. The worst is his partner in the booth was complimenting him on how great his memory was.

Of course, to be fair, I can’t imagine what other teams’ fans think when they hear Sterling and Waldman.
