Roger Clemens in the house

Guess which free agent RHP with 348 wins is sitting next to the Yankees’ dugout? Yep, the Rocket. He’s here to see Andy Pettitte pitch.

A few of us were able to talk to Roger when he came in with his son Koby. He has not decided whether he wants to pitch but he appears to be in great shape.

Roger will be doing an inning on YES tonight.

Here is some audio from Roger.

See that nice scoop out of the dirt by Minky? That’s why we signed him.

I’m sorry but I cant see him signing anywhere that Andy is not, or in Boston where he doesnt really know any of the players. Maybe Houston, but I dont know.

Broken bat scare aside, Andy looked great in the first inning. His breaking stuff looks much improved, his change impressive. He might have lost a little bit on his cutter, forcing him to become a complete pitcher again, as he was in his best Yankee year, 1997.

Andy scared the daylights out of me. I thought he was hit in the head.

I thought Giambi was hit in the head as well.

What is Andys strike to ball ratio?

  7. Matt Waters March 7th, 2007 at 7:36 pm

LC- IDK, but he’s struggling a little bit with his control in the second, though. This will probably be his last inning.

  8. LC March 7th, 2007 at 7:37 pm

    Haha nice job Andy.

  9. A-Rod for President March 7th, 2007 at 7:38 pm

Wow, he got out of that one. I’m so happy Dandy Andy is back.

That’s classic Pettitte right there. Yes, I just sounded like your typical fawning broadcaster. I don’t care. His curve looks great, nice break.

    Bases loaded, no outs.

    Strike out, double play.

So glad Randy Johnson is gone. For him that could have been a 17 run inning.

Arod is in FANTASTIC shape this season. He looks similar to what he did in Seattle.

  13. LC March 7th, 2007 at 7:42 pm

    Oh Alex XD

    Peter –
What’s with ARod’s baserunning? Isn’t this the second time he’s been thrown out this spring, trying for the extra base? I know this is spring training and the games don’t count, but bad baseball is still bad baseball. Bowa looked a little surprised, too. What’s he trying to prove? Is he just getting carried away with enthusiasm?

  15. TurnTwo March 7th, 2007 at 7:54 pm

and Arod’s defense is in midseason form.

Menky looks awful at 1B thus far this spring. He didn’t have to leave the bag for ARod’s throw. He’s made every play at 1B look difficult so far this.

i maintaint my theory that the sox are going to have to move papelbon back to the bullpen in may or june, opening the door for clemens’ return. i’d love to see him in pinstripes though. it’d be nice not to have to count on igawa and pavano.

  18. LC March 7th, 2007 at 8:01 pm

    Kasey,
Yes they could make room for him, but I dont see him choosing them over the Yankees or Astros. But thats just me.

KT is having some real quality at-bats this spring. If I were the Marlins, I’d be taking a close look at him for their center field vacancy.

If anybody is watching the game, what was that pitch Mo threw to get the second out? He turned around to Jeter and smiled and flashed a V sign, two fingers up. Did he throw a freakin’ forkball or splitter or some other new pitch?

  21. LC March 7th, 2007 at 8:20 pm

I think Al said it was a splitter.

I love how he laughed after that strikout, but blocked his face from the opposing bench with his glove.
