Bottom line is we need Pavano healthy and succesfull because A: It makes him tradeable and maybe we get a decent back-up catcher or firstbaseman for him or B: He becomes the league average #4 starter we thought we were getting. Either way it helps the team. My preference is a solid spring, trade him, and open his rotation spot for 1 of the kids.

say who? you? i don’t like pavano either, but that’s a dumb thing to say. does andy phillips have “too much baggage”? after all, his wife was sick, he was on the DL last year, and his mother was in a car accident.

if his girlfriend had a miscarraige or something like that, who are you to begrudge him missing a SPRING TRAINING start?

Yeah, if it’s girlfriend-related he gets a break from me. In fact, I’m reading Pavano right now as a guy who can’t catch a break. He works his butt off all winter trying to get in better condition so he can come back and pitch for the Yankees, then takes a line drive off his heel and then his girlfriend has a medical issue, and we all jump all over him. Let’s give it until the end of March, take his entire spring into perspective, and then we can prasie him or trash him accorndingly.

According to the Post, “Pavano split to attend to a health situation involving his girlfriend, 22-year-old Gia Allemand.” If that’s the case, I think he deserves some slack. Andy Phillips had two years of personal issues – should he be cut too?

A friend of mine is working spring training and he said he heard it might be due to his wife’s miscarriage. Pure speculation but also heresay from Tampa

no one here has any idea what the issue is, so why is pavano being criticized? criticize him all you want for last year, i don’t really like the guy either, but why is this “the straw that broke the camel’s back?” what if someone in his family died? no one has any idea, so let’s cut the guy some slack until we do.

Meh, I don’t know what the heck is up with this guy. If its something personal, then yeah go ahead and take care of it, but really, is anyone suprised? Its always one thing or another with him.

But boy, Pavano really took care of A-Rod, man, A-rod must feel left out of the media, thanks to Pavano.
