Yankees in the presence of greatness

The man himself, Patriots coach Bill Belichick was at camp today and spent a few hours with Joe Torre. He later watched batting practice with Torre, Brian Cashman and Yogi Berra.

Being a Patriots fan since birth, I had to go over and say hello to the coach. He was very gracious. Yes, I know, I’m quite lame. But I was a sports fan before I became a sportswriter and the Pats are my team.

Torre said he and Belichick have becomes friends over the years. The Skip hangs with the bling. He’s also pals with John Wooden.

I think it’s great you had a chance to greet the coach of your Patriots. I think we all turn into little kids when faced with those kinds of opportunities. I’m also glad for your sake that he was gracious.

Peter, can you ask Bill why he dissed Eric after the game the Jets won, than physically threw a camera man out of the way to hug Eric when he beat the Jets in the playoffs?

It’s amazing how much Torre’s life changed when he was offered the Yankee job.

Kinda weird the relationship between the Pats and Yankees. Not in a bad way, I’m just sayin.
Isnt Tom Brady a Yankee fan? I know he’s really good friends with Arod and said he would like his son to where a Jeter jersey. And I’m pretty sure he was at a Yankee/White Sox game last season.

“He was very gracious.” You must not have told him you were a member of the media.

Pete, not lame at all. These guys should be flattered and gracious that a perfect stranger thinks enough of and/or admires them to go out of their way to say hello. I give you a lot of credit for taking a few moments to be Pete the Pats fan. And this is coming from a life long die hard Dolphins fan!
