Ben Davis turns on the speed
I came back upstairs to file a story and a blog post just in time to see Ben Davis rip a triple to center field.
Yes, a triple. Big Ben rounded second like a water buffalo on roller skates but he managed to make his way to third before flopping in the dirt. Ben is a good dude who always laughs and says, “No comment” when he sees us.
The Twins must get a bonus if they win this game, Ron Gardenhire just pulled the infield in.
Yankees up 4-1 in the bottom of the eighth as Todd Pratt just dropped in a single.

Watching that sloppy slide by Ben Davis is what makes watching grown men play a boys game reallly FUN.
The Yankees still need a backup catcher and a starting 1Bman.
If only we could combine the 1B skills of Minky with the power of Phelps.
Peter who do you think is gonna get the backup catchers job? i think its gonna be pratt
rich and michael, i think nieves is the backup catcher. he’s the only reserve catcher on the 40-man roster. pratt’s age is working against him. i do agree with rich: we might need a starting first baseman. i normally pay no heed to spring training stats but minky is starting to scare me.
Pete, please, I beg of you: Do not refer to Davis as “Big Ben”.
I have proposed legislation (currently sitting on my representative’s desk, no doubt) that we limit the number of sports figures named “Ben” who are referred to as “Big Ben” to one at a time. Currently, the name is owned by Ben Roethlisberger. This no doubt irks Ben Wallace, but them’s the breaks. Thank you for your cooperation.
Ben was “Big Ben” in 2002, so he’s got it.
Pete, I remember him from that season with the Ms, and he could hit a fair lick. Does it look like he’s getting it back? I sure hope so, because Pratt and Nieves are not going to cut it.
If we can have 2 LTs from the same sport, we certainly have room for 2 Big Bens from seperate sports…
I thought Big Ben was that pitcher who bombed for the Orioles in the ’90s….I forget his name…..
Ben McDonald.
