Best of luck, Phil Franchise

Phil Hughes was reassigned to the minor league camp this afternoon after throwing in the bullpen.

Phil Franchise was philosophical, saying he clearly had not pitched well enough to make the team and wasn’t going to make the team even if he had.

“I kow what I need to work on now,” he said.

Hughes said his immediate goal was gaining better command of his changeup because he realizes he can’t be a two-pitch starter.

Whatever “it” is, Hughes has it. He looks you in the eye, he answers the questions honestly and when I wished him good luck, he gave me a good handshake. I don’t know when we’re going to see him again, but when we do it will be to stay.
