Here's one writer who had a positive interpretation of Arod interview on WFAN. I'm stunned. She must not have gotten the Arod bashing memo.

For once, A-Rod rings true

"Someone might even console Cashman (and other Yankee fans) by telling him that we’ve had pretty decent seasons with less than HOF caliber 3B in the past…like the Hayes/Boggs platoon in ‘96 and some journeyman name Scott something in the late ‘90s."

Well, yeah, but we also had great pitching. If you're going to have a Brosius level player at third instead of ARod, then you gotta give me something better than Wang/Mussina/crappy Unit/fill-in-the-blank that we had last year.

Wade "was"...the operative word being "was"...by '96, he was splitting time with Charlie Hayes (who caught the last out in that WS, while Wade was busy looking for a police horse to climb on). I mean, Randy Johnson is a HOF caliber pitcher too, just not when we got him.

Admittedly the only "Hall" Mel will probably ever see is in his name, but he did crack the game winning homer in the bottom of the 9th against the Red Sox in a July 4th game back in the day. I think the Beach Boys and Charlie Daniels Band played afterwards.

Wow. This is a blog, yes, but it's one written by a beat writer for the Yankees on a site run by his newspaper.

"Underdog"?

Unbelievably unprofessional. Stunningly so.

While Mel Hall may not be a HOF caliber player, Wade Boggs was, you know.

The amount of mental energy spent loving/hating/blogging about Underdog could power a small city.

Every blog I go to anywhere on the Internet - Underdog rules the threads. I can't figure out why people - not just Yankee fans - care so much about him. He's under contract for the year. That's that. He has to play for the Yankees for at least one more year. Clutch or not. MVP or not. Jeter's BFF or not. If he leaves, I still think the Yankees will decide to go through with the '08 season. Someone might even console Cashman (and other Yankee fans) by telling him that we've had pretty decent seasons with less than HOF caliber 3B in the past...like the Hayes/Boggs platoon in '96 and some journeyman name Scott something in the late '90s.
