Pregame chatter: Sorry for the delay, the MLBPA meeting went long and pushed everything back. … Joe Torre said the he was leaning to taking 12 pitchers north but not necessarily a long reliever. … Bobby Abreu could take BP tomorrow.

This should be a good test for Igawa. That’s a pretty tough right-handed middle-of-the-order.

Can someone explain why toree bats Giambi 3rd instead of Cano? Giambi serves better in the 5 spot so he can protect A-Rod. And Cano will get pitches to hit in the 3-spot, instead of being semi-pitched around. This takes away the need to have a high OBP hitter in the 3-spot.

    Neil,
I don’t think it really matters since Abreu will hit third on Opening Day.

Any idea who is scheduled to follow Igawa?

  6. sunny615

    Igawa’s line after 2 innings:
    Igawa 2.0 0 0 0 3 4 0
    not bad.

  7. sunny615

    Igawa 2 0 0 0 3 4 0

sorry- forgot to take out the decimal point

It’s getting old, and it’s not funny.
