Igawa on the mound tonight

Peter Abraham
March
20

Yankees play somebody tonight at Legends and Kei Igawa is pitching. I’ll post the lineups once I get to the park.

I’ll honestly admit I have no idea who they’re playing. Then again, it doesn’t matter. It’s the same few teams over and over again.

In the interim, I have stories for our preview section to work on. Everything is due by March 26. This year’s theme: A look back at the Koyie Hill era.

True story: I’m at the end of a hallway here at the hotel and it’s almost always quiet. Yesterday some high school group was here, four kids in a room in like five rooms. It was noisy but that’s why Bose noise-canceling headphones are one of mankind’s greatest inventions.

Around 11, their teacher knocks on every door, announces the kids have to stay in the room for the night and slaps a piece of tape across the door to “seal them in.”

What? You’re in Tampa and you have to be in the room at 11? Just not right. Part of growing up is sneaking away from chaperones and getting turned down trying to buy beer at a 7-11.

If it’s me at 17, we leave and then have one kid the teachers like re-tape the doors and take the heat in the morning when his door is unsealed. He’d get a little heat but not too much.

It’s that or the window.

you should tamper with the tape so they get in trouble…

Haha, This reminds me of my 8th grade trip to Washington DC. My friends that I was rooming with would break the tape every night to go hangout with some nice girls from California we met..Our punishment was that we werent allowed to go into some musuem, probably the greatest punishment I have ever received haa

Years ago in a similar situation our solution was to sneak out and break the tape on *everyone’s* door. Then, the adults didn’t know who to blame and no one got in trouble.
