An MRI on Chien-Ming Wang’s right hamstring revealed a Grade 1 hamstring tear and he will start the season on the disabled list. Grade 1 is the least serious.

GM Brian Cashman said he expected Wang would not be ready for his first major league game until late April.

The Yankees haven’t said who will take his place in the rotation but Jeff Karstens is the likely choice.

More to come on this.
