The bees are back

bees.jpgThe Yankees had their batting practice interrupted when a giant swarm of bees descended on the field.

After a bit, the bees all landed on a screen behind second base. We’re talking thousands of bees.

Some stadium workers braver than I wheeled the screen out through a gate in center field. See on the photo where the pole on top disappears? Those are bees.

This is the second time this week the Yankees have been beset by bees.

“This is getting weird,” Wil Nieves sad.

Rasner over Karstens may need to be considered.

Bring back the Bees! Thank goodness it’s ST or I’d be setting myself on fire. Sheffield getting his revenge? As long as it’s now and not during the season.

thing is, they’re not really dangerous. these are swarming honey bees, looking for a place to build a hive, breed their young and store honey, as such they are not dangerous because they have no young and no honey to protect. that’s why they can be easily toted off the field.

Must be the deadspin in me; I thought it was the ghost of Barbaro posting. Pratt gets the first hit!

to continue with this bee thing…. in ancient mythology it was considered by some a good omen.. by others a bad one. my perosnal opinion is that this guarantees the yanks the world series this year… they’ll still play it out over 162 games and then best of 5, 7 and 7; but it’s really all over.

It’s also tradition to call the season over before it begins when the starting pitcher gives up 4 in the 1st :) Deja vu: little guys getting the job done! Pratt single, Melky rbi single!

Did the P.A. system play Elvis’ “I Got Stung”?

Doesn’t sound like Karsten will be hearing the voice of god on opening day. Heard they’re calling for snow. Maybe it will be snowed out then Moose will pitch the opener on day 2?

    Rough outing for Karstens. After 2 IP, 6 R on 6 H.

Maybe the bees are attracted to the scent of Driven.

Henn next for the DL? Did he just roll his ankle? That was a really slopping inning.

why don’t they just put one of those huge screens around the entire stadium like everyone does with their pools in florida for bugs…
