Villone over Henn isn't earth moving or anything but I just love how a guy is here on a minor league contract gets totally out played and it never mattered he could have gone all spring without recording an out.

I also love how people make excuses for him Pete I have to ask did he marry your sister? Today you write Villone had some bad luck last night (by leaving a fat FB middle middle) that overbay broke his bat on totally ignoring the fact his era is 14.4 and he has not recorded an out in 2 straight apperances and thats not even counting when he was sent down to minor league camp and smacked around. Again its not a huge deal but I will be shocked if he is around June 1.

plus they are carrying an extra pitcher so the last spot means even less than it did last year. being the 13 guy instead of the 12 will actually make a difference too

Redsox winning Al east and winning 113 ballgames eventhough it's fantasy? The Yankees only 87 games?

Thanks, Ryan... i think the type of pitcher that the organization has targeted here are similar in nature; good character guys, large bodies, heavy throwers who pound the K zone. Seems like he fits into that mold. I heard his pitching line when I got to the car, glad to hear he did well.

i would imagine Villone gets the call over Henn, because of his experience and because Henn has that extra option... money certainly isnt a factor here. But that certainly doesnt mean he's here for the season. Villone falters in April, I could see Henn up with the big club by May.

that's what it seems like. i'm guessing henn's option had a big factor in the decision. i don't think i agree with the decision, but don't think this will make or break our bullpen either way. we're talking about the final spot and i don't think either would be used in a real big situation.

From Journal News - Quote from Joe

"Just because (Villone) has had bad outings doesn't necessarily mean you're going to go against him,'' Torre said.

So I guess Joe will choose Villone over Henn?

Turn Two: Steven Jackson is mostly a groundball pitcher. Throws a fastball in the low 90's with a change and a pretty impressive splitter already.

Right now, he's on the cusp. They don't know whether to send him to AAA to join the Hughes/T-Clip/Ohlendorf crew or to send him to Trenton. If last night is any indication, I think he should go to Scranton.

The one thing I really enjoyed about his performance last night was that he went right after the hitters and threw a lot of strikes. They made some solid contact, but overall, he pounded the strike zone and got outs without nibbling.

Jake, if you're refering to the DUI, i'm thinking that was probably an effect of relationship issues, and not the cause of.

i'm no marriage expert, but these things don't happen overnight. Plus, I'd hate for that marriage to be a fake one, with an objective to eventually gain control of my favorite team.
