Hey Peter, Can you please tell me your predictions for the Yankees for 2007? Thanks.

  2. Todd Drew

We are ready. I feel very good about this team.

  3. Thurman

Well, it adds up to 25, and there’s no Villone (or Karstens).

  4. LathamJoe

OMG, What has become of Colter Bean??????????

  5. Phil

    Isn’t it Rob Thompson?

  6. Jb

    Colter bean = AAAA pitcher

  7. Peter Abraham

Predictions in the paper on Sunday

  8. mel

    Thanks Pete,

It’s great to see the roster set in stone. Er, I mean pixels.

Subject to change. Who goes when Wang and Karstens both come back?

  9. Jamie

Assuming nobody else gets hurt it’s got to be Rasner and either Henn or Bruney that’d get shipped out.

  10. hmmm

why would karstens automatically get a spot when he comes back? he should go to scranton.

  11. kasey

that roster looks better than it has in years. not too many new faces, but enough to add some fresh blood.

  12. steve

oh man when wang comes back, look out. this is the team to beat.

  13. sean

And who’s going to pinch-run and steal a base for us in the late innings when we need to get a runner into scoring position?

I still like the team but having a lights-out base stealer could help us in a lot close situations – just ask dave roberts and the 2004 red sox.

In my opinion it would be more valuable than having a right-handed 1st base specialist.

  14. Rich

Just keep the rotation and Po healthy.

  15. Jb

Cairo = utility role player, He will be the pinch runner

  16. Jb

Sean, Are you kidding me, Your worried about Yankees lack of pinch runner in the lineup , I’m sorry it will not affect Yankees in win/losses .

On His Blog, Schilling comments about Yankees pitching prospect Phil Hughes.

If I was Phillips, I would have wanted to play for another organization’s minor league team. He likely has no future here,

  19. Josh

I agree Rich, hes a great guy but anytimei see him at the plate i use that as an opportunity to take a restroom break cuz usually the commercials are esaier to watch

  20. sunny615

You also have to remember that Phillips had to clear waivers before being sent to AAA Scranton because he was out of options. If there was any other team that would have wanted him, they would have claimed him off waivers. With that out of the picture, it doesn’t seem likely the Yankees would get any kind of decent deal in a trade.

  21. Jimbo

    Pete,

Thou art truly a Sportswriting God. Can you do me a favor and briefly explain the differences between being optioned/clearing waivers/reassigned to minor camp, etc?

And can anyone point to a website where “options” are explained in better detail?

Thanks again for the superb work. It was not just the speed of the posts today and other days — you care about Getting Things Right.

And thanks to the other posters as well. After the season – Party at Pete’s Place!

  22. TylerClippardFan

I have question when a player are put on waivers and nobody picks them up, Does options for that particular player reset?

  23. Jeremy

Cashman’s ability is evident in the fact that our pitching is in decent shape despite injuries to two-fifths of the planned rotation, including the no. 1 starter.

  24. LathamJoe

Here is one of several websites explaining waiver/options/outrighting:
