No makeup date was announced. I’ll post the pitching plans as soon as I hear them.

Here is the release from the Yankees regarding tickets:

TODAY’S GAME AT YANKEE STADIUM POSTPONED

Today’s game between the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Devil Rays at Yankee Stadium has been postponed due to poor weather conditions. No makeup date has been announced.

Fans holding paid tickets for today’s postponed game may use them for the rescheduled game between the Yankees and Devil Rays (date and time to be announced) or may exchange them for any regular-season game at Yankee Stadium within 12 months (subject to availability).

Tickets can only be exchanged at Yankee Stadium Advance Ticket Windows (open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and until the 7th inning of any regularly scheduled home game).

    April Fools? Please?

  2. Chris NY April 4th, 2007 at 11:30 am

good thing they had an off-day the second day of the season, just to get rained out on the 3rd…….

Seriously though, what the hell is going on down there that they called the game so early? I’m up in Boston and it’s not pretty here, but no rain.

  3. Ken April 4th, 2007 at 11:30 am

    Pete,

For the future what is the best way to get up to the minute rainout information?

    K

  4. Stephen April 4th, 2007 at 11:34 am

    Chris,
It’s raining (but not pouring), and is supposed to continue like this all day. Definitely a wet day here.

  5. Todd Drew April 4th, 2007 at 11:34 am

Sometimes you need a rainout, but this isn’t one of those times.

  6. Brian April 4th, 2007 at 11:35 am

Sucks schedule-wise, but I have to admit I’m psyched. Going to the game tomorrow, and this means I might get a chance to see Andy pitch (no offense to Moose). Time to bust out the old Pettitte Jersey.

  7. dadofjft April 4th, 2007 at 11:38 am

Thank goodness the Yanks had the sense to call this one early. It’s always miserable to sit in the rain for a few hours (after paying for parking) listening to the organist play “Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head”. I applaud their decision, even though I think their concern is more for Andy Pettitte than the fans.

  8. Doreen April 4th, 2007 at 11:39 am

They’re also calling for possible thunderstorms this afternoon.

  9. Brandon April 4th, 2007 at 11:41 am

Peter we know about the rain out please inform us on Damon I just heard he’s out indefinitely and in pain when he walks is this true ?

  10. Bronx Bomber April 4th, 2007 at 11:44 am

according to 1050 Andy goes tomorrow, Moose on Friday (vs. Baltimore), Igawa Saturday, Rasner Sunday, followed by Pavano.

  11. Wolf In Pinstripes April 4th, 2007 at 11:44 am

Yeah, it sucks to have that day off yesterday and then have a rainout today as well. I want the season to get rolling full force – it’s too soon to have to deal with withdrawal! lol

We had some really bad storms here in the midwest yesterday – I don’t know if it’s the same front moving out toward NY, but if it is, there’s no way in hell they’d be playing under the conditions we saw here.

  12. Stormy April 4th, 2007 at 11:47 am

The ironic thing is that yesterday might have been the best day to get a ballgame in — it’s supposed to rain all week.

And after all the hand-wringing about the rotation and who pitched where on what rest, the back four are going to get (at least) one extra day of rest.

    Pete,

Whats the deal with J. Damon. I heard his injury is more serious than cramps.

  14. Ben April 4th, 2007 at 11:51 am

I’m with Brandon…just heard Damon may be out MUCH longer than once thought…have you heard anything about that? Tell me it’s not true….

  15. Peter Abraham April 4th, 2007 at 11:52 am

Fellas: I am not working today or at the stadium. I will let you know when I hear anything.

  16. Rob(Middletown, CT) April 4th, 2007 at 11:53 am

Bleh. I hate the off-day after opening day, and now I hate it even more. Sigh.

This rainout ruins my whole work day.

  20. Phil A. April 4th, 2007 at 12:07 pm

slacker- who gave you the day off? You must serve us always.

  21. Dave April 4th, 2007 at 12:10 pm

This sux … at what time did they cancel the game? 10 AM or something. This is ridiculous. one day off is bad two days off is worse.

  22. jk April 4th, 2007 at 12:12 pm

I am trading in my tickets for today’s game for a Mets or Red Sox game.

  23. JohnC April 4th, 2007 at 12:16 pm

    JK

Good luck with that one. I’m sure those games are all sold out!

  24. SlickBomb April 4th, 2007 at 12:23 pm

I’m disappointed. Good thing there are plenty of other MLB games at mid-day today to keep us interested.

  25. saucy April 4th, 2007 at 12:26 pm

is it just me, or is it kind of silly to use Rasner on Sunday?

  26. Jake April 4th, 2007 at 12:50 pm

Its not pretty in the city. I was on my way but thankfully they called it. 40 degrees and rain isnt the best way to play or watch a game.

  27. BRO. COPE April 4th, 2007 at 12:50 pm

  30. Chris NY April 4th, 2007 at 1:08 pm

Moose always seems to pitch the games I go to.. I’ll be there Friday night. Supposed to be 30 degrees and windy, perfect football weather!!

    Oh….. wait… it’s baseball season, WTF??!!!

  31. Brian April 4th, 2007 at 1:23 pm

i sit around clawing at my arms all winter long, dying from the baseball withdraw, then it finally comes…and on top of an IMMEDIATE off day which i hate, a rainout. I JUST WANT TO WATCH THE DAMN YANKEES!

  32. saucy April 4th, 2007 at 1:31 pm

K FINK, they’re not going to schedule a double header this early in the season, especially since the Rays come here 2 more times. It will probably happen in July.
