Yankees lead 5-0 behind Pavano

What a great at-bat by Bobby Abreu in the second inning as he fouled off three 3-2 pitches before crushing a Sidney Ponson fastball off the football seats in right field.

Abreu’s patience was considered a fault in Philadelphia. But with the Yankees he fits right in. His being in front of Alex Rodriguez all season will lead to Alex getting a lot of pitches because Bobby will get on base and wear pitchers down.

Meanwhile, Carl Pavano has retired seven straight. He has not won a game since May 22, 2005. So history is in the making.
