Ironman Mike Myers

Mike Myers has already thrown 5.1 innings this season, which doesn’t sound like a lot until you consider he pitched 30.2 innings all last season.

I see where many of you were wondering why Joe Torre took Darrell Rasner out of the game. Today was his second appearance of the season, which started on April 2.

Rasner pitched 4.1 innings over the first 11 days of the season. Today he went 5.1 innings and 78 pitches in a game he learned he was starting yesterday. You can only get so much from guys who haven’t been used regularly.

Plus in a close game and you have an extra lefty in the pen, you use him for a hitter like Eric Chavez.

Meanwhile Doug Mientkiewicz is now 0 for his last 22. But at least he would have scooped that ball Derek Jeter threw.
