Choices for Tuesday
-
- April
- 15
The Yankees need to call up a starter to pitch Tuesday. That pitcher would likely also face the Red Sox on Sunday.
Based on the minor-league rotations, here are your three choices:
LHP Chase Wright: Last pitched on April 11. He has been dynamite, throwing 14 scoreless innings and allowing four hits. He has walked one and struck out 19. He’s also on the 40-man roster.
RHP Phil Hughes: Last pitched April 12. He has allowed seven runs on nine hits in 10 innings. Not on the 40-man roster. I also do not think the Yankees would mess with their development plan for him.
RHP Tyler Clippard: Last pitched April 11. He’s been OK (0-1, 4.00) in two starts. He is not on the 40-man roster.
My guess would be Wright. He is off to a great start and they wouldn’t have to risk losing a player. It would be quite a rise for Wright, who spent six seasons in rookie or Class A ball before starting this season with Trenton.

Peter Abraham

Pete, I’ve never seen Wright pitch, can you give us a quick scouting report? How hard does he throw? How old is he?
No need to guess, Kim Jones already said it will be Wright, weather permitting.
Wright is a 24 yr old lefty that can touch 90 and according to Kim Jones he is starting on Tuesday
Think I read he was 12-3, FLorida League pitcher of the eyar last year. Finally developed his curveball, making him very effective.
I thought it was offcial that it is chase?
It is almost like Peter knew it was Wright before posting the entry!!!!!
