Rarity for Rivera as Yanks lose stunner

Mariano Rivera had not allowed a run since Aug. 27. That includes the end of last season, the playoffs, spring training and this season. In all, 20 consecutive innings.

What is even more unusual is that he was one strike away from getting Jason Kendall and the pitch to Scutaro was 0-2.

Rivera told us he was trying to get a cutter in and left it over the plate.

What a series. The teams played 33 innings over three days and the Athletics outscored the Yankees 13-12.

Meanwhile, my red-eye flight home just got canceled. Fun weekend.
