hopefully he can pitch like he has in AA this year :) .

  2. BryanK April 15th, 2007 at 5:10 pm

Pretty exciting stuff, we will see how it works out.

  3. Hello?offense? April 15th, 2007 at 5:10 pm

With this overrated lineup, he better pitch a shutout every time out.

  4. kerouac April 15th, 2007 at 5:11 pm

in a perfect world, wright would have been promoted to scranton after throwing 14 innings of shutout ball in trenton with 19 Ks, 1 walk, 4 hits allowed and a WHIP of .036. he’s too good for that league.

  5. 2007 Yankees April 15th, 2007 at 5:11 pm

It should work out well because, with Monday’s off day, the bullpen will be at full strenth. This is important in case Cleveland should “chase” Wright early. ;-)

  6. SJ44 April 15th, 2007 at 5:13 pm

Yes, the lineup is very overrated because they aren’t pounding one of the best pitchers in the league.

This lineup will hit. They just aren’t going to hit in 162 straight games.

The Yankees may have some issues but, lack of offense is certainly not one of them.

Sometimes, its ok to tip your cap to the other team. Rich Harden is a helluva young pitcher.

  7. Jeff NJ April 15th, 2007 at 5:18 pm

You know who must be bumming, Phil Hughes. Had he pitched lights out so far this year he would be the one getting the call. For now, he is officially passed on the depth chart, now number 9. Humberto Sanchez “the spanish Carl Pavano” should get off his ass too. Not that I would change that trade, Sheff is sucking wind and blowing hot air this season.

  8. Hello?offense? April 15th, 2007 at 5:18 pm

Give me a break. They didn’t hit against Joe Blanton, either. And he’s not one of the best pitchers in the league.

Mark my words, Bobby Abreu will start to hear some boos before the year is over.

And that “tip your cap” crap is the kind of attitude that has the Yanks playing as listless and flat as they are. Giambi swinging at the 3-2 pitch way outside and high had nothing to do with how good the pitcher is. Neither did that stiff Abreu swinging through the low 90′s fastball right down the middle on the botched hit-and run.

  9. jk April 15th, 2007 at 5:18 pm

Its hard to win when you give up unearned runs night after night.

  10. Hello?offense? April 15th, 2007 at 5:19 pm

Yes, it is, and that’s more evidence of the Torre brand of listless baseball they’re inflicting on the fans.

  11. Andrew April 15th, 2007 at 5:21 pm

    Hello?brains?

  12. Gayle April 15th, 2007 at 5:21 pm

    Jeff–

I have a feeling that the entire starting rotation would have to go down for Hughes to be called up. The Yankees have a plan for Hughes and seem to be sticking to it no matter what.

  13. Stuart April 15th, 2007 at 5:21 pm

hello offense get a clue. Try looking at the stats, Yea the Yanks offense stinks. They are 2nd in the league in runs and have played Minny and Oakland the last week.

I will bet you they lead the league in runs scored, worse case scenario they will finish 2nd??

    How about the bet clown???

  14. Stuart April 15th, 2007 at 5:22 pm

that slow base to base offense. Kendall has thrown out the last 4 base stealers in this series..

do you even watch the games???

  15. SJ44 April 15th, 2007 at 5:26 pm

Yawn, another one of the whiny crew upset the Yankees don’t score 10 runs every night.

Of course Abreu will hear boos this year. With fans like yourself, probably part of the ARod Boo Brigade, why wouldn’t he hear boos?

All he has done since he has been a Yankees is hit over .300, have a .420+ OBP and average nearly an RBI a game.

Damn, that’s awful. He deserves to be booed.

  16. Rey22 April 15th, 2007 at 5:26 pm

Oh my freakin Lord, Minky actually got a hit!

  17. KT April 15th, 2007 at 5:28 pm

    Pete,

Is there anyway that you can prevent idiots posting on this blog. It is becoming a joke with a the hatred Yankee talk.
    KT

P.S. Your own personal blog writing is my favorite you are on top of everything at all times. But the other blog writers are just to riduculous for me to handle.

    GO YANKS

  18. Hello?offense? April 15th, 2007 at 5:29 pm

“I will bet you they lead the league in runs scored, worse case scenario they will finish 2nd??

    It’s a bet.

Now let’s watch this dynamic offense in action!

  19. Jamie April 15th, 2007 at 5:36 pm

Are you serious? Why is Minky going on that? I’m listening on XM so I don’t know how far away it was.. sounds like kendall got a good bounce.

  20. Chris NJ April 15th, 2007 at 5:36 pm

Not a very fun game to watch so far. Everything’s gone wrong for the Yankees and right for the A’s. Hopefully our luck will change soon.

  21. Italian Restaurant April 15th, 2007 at 5:36 pm

Abreu doesn’t hit. Expect A-Rod to take the heat for that one again. Why not boo him? Walks are great but he sucks at making contact. Each at-bat looks like a person desperate to pass the clutch-burden onto someone else.

  22. JimCobain April 15th, 2007 at 5:36 pm

It was a bad bounce for the yankees the itch was over arods head, you have to go.

  23. Jeff NJ April 15th, 2007 at 5:37 pm

The offense is fine. I can’t think of too many lineups I would trade it for. Arguably the Mets, that’s it.

  24. Italian Restaurant April 15th, 2007 at 5:37 pm

This is the SLOWEST team in the world! Talk about not catching any breaks.

  25. jay April 15th, 2007 at 5:37 pm

Kendall got a good bounce, but the ball got all the way back to the backstop. You gotta try on that. Although in this case it might a little questionable with Arod at the plate. Why risk it with two outs, two on and your best hitter at the plate. Just like many times yesterday, Arod will now come up to lead off an inning. Horrible.

  26. Chris NJ April 15th, 2007 at 5:38 pm

Jamie, he did get a great bounce off of the backstop. And if it was a speeder guy, then he would definitely have made it. Doug was out by about 5 inches, not even.

  27. Tom April 15th, 2007 at 5:40 pm

The least he could have done is slid shoulder first, try and take the pitcher out of the game.

  28. hmmm April 15th, 2007 at 5:40 pm

agreed. that was a lucky bounce back to kendall.

if he’s safe, it was the right play. if he’s not, it isn’t.

    nothing you can do.

  29. Jennifer April 15th, 2007 at 5:40 pm

wow we’ve played sloppy baseball, and have gotten no breaks this series! The ball keeps bouncing their way! How many times have we been thrown out trying to advance? make them practice tomorrow in the pouring rain!

  30. Italian Restaurant April 15th, 2007 at 5:41 pm

How come this team can’t do the things that “bad” teams like ohh, say, the rest of the MLB can do? Like catch, throw, hit, steal, or RUN?

“Although in this case it might a little questionable with Arod at the plate. Why risk it with two outs, two on and your best hitter at the plate.”

it’s a valid point, but you have to process all of this in a split second before you decide.

  33. Rey22 April 15th, 2007 at 5:47 pm

Least Pettitte is pitching well. Looks like the bullpen will catch a break today.

  34. Jennifer April 15th, 2007 at 5:48 pm

Funny thing is if he made it everyone would be shouting how brilliant he was for going. if he was half a second earlier he would have made it.

  35. hmmm April 15th, 2007 at 5:52 pm

    a-rod is just locked it.

  36. 2007 Yankees April 15th, 2007 at 5:53 pm

Minky did the right thing. 3 things needed to happen for him to get caught at the plate once the ball went by Kendall.
    1) Kendall needed to find the ball.
    2) Kendall needed to get get the ball
    3) Kendall needed to make a perfect throw to Harden

All 3 things happened and Minky was out. This is just one of those days where things are working against the Yankees but they are still in the game. For all we know, Arod strikes out and doesn’t hit the double in the 7th.
So now the A’s bullpen takes over and we’ll see what happens.
    Keep the faith.

  37. hmmm April 15th, 2007 at 5:56 pm

    “locked in”

  38. eric April 15th, 2007 at 6:07 pm

i agree with the earlier poster. why can’t the yankees do the simple things that other teams can, like catch the ball, field, and throw. forget hitting, why do they keep making so many errors!!!!!!! i think the yankees should have 2-3 real loses, not 5. They are beating themselves.

  39. hmmm April 15th, 2007 at 6:09 pm

“why can’t the yankees do the simple things that other teams can, like catch the ball, field, and throw.”

b/c they are old. all players decline defensively as they age.

  40. Don V. April 15th, 2007 at 6:17 pm

It’s called working out the early season kinks. By the way, in case you havent noticed the Yanks are winning 3-2.

  41. Reflaxion April 15th, 2007 at 6:18 pm

    They’re not old.

  42. kasey April 15th, 2007 at 6:18 pm

that’s exciting for wright. hopefully he can come up, help out, and energize the team a bit the way cano, wang and cabrera have. i’m excited to watch the kid pitch tuesday.

  43. hmmm April 15th, 2007 at 6:29 pm

this team would be screwed without a-rod.

  44. hmmm April 15th, 2007 at 6:30 pm

    “They’re not old.”

yes they are. i was exaggerating, but they have exactly 1 regular position player under 32.

  45. Deric April 15th, 2007 at 6:38 pm

Terrible mistake by the Yankees. We now can only cross our fingers and hope that Chase Wright would make it.

  46. sunny615 April 15th, 2007 at 6:38 pm

I wonder if chase will make a good impression. There’s a big difference between AA hitters and major league hitters. I hope he makes a great transition and sticks around – perhaps Igawa or Pavano get’s to take his spot on the AA roster. With what they’ve been doing so far, those two may have problems in AA.

  47. hmmm April 15th, 2007 at 6:42 pm

“perhaps Igawa or Pavano get’s to take his spot on the AA roster. With what they’ve been doing so far, those two may have problems in AA.”

    ??

pavano is hurt, but he’s actually pitched decently.

igawa was bad in his first start and decent in his second.

let’s give him a few weeks before we send him to AA.

  48. sunny615 April 15th, 2007 at 6:49 pm

Pavano’s first start was less than stellar as was Igawa’s. Neither of them has shown any consistency (or in Pavano’s case the ability to avoid injury.) I would not be wrong in berating the contributions of either, but it is still early and I will reserve judgement until a few more starts. But I have a feeling Igawa’s next start won’t be as good as his last as he still hasn’t gotten command of all his pitches. I think Cash is understating the severity of Pavano’s injury and will eventually be put on the DL retro to a couple of days ago. In either case, I hope Chase pulls a Wang and makes a case to stick.

  49. hmmm April 15th, 2007 at 6:53 pm

Pavano is already on the DL.

  50. sunny615 April 15th, 2007 at 6:55 pm

    rest my case…unfortunately

    Is this Michael Kay?

  52. Brandon April 15th, 2007 at 9:48 pm

Thank You Cashman. The new era of Yankees fans please understand the farm is deep we will solve from within stop looking for the quick and expensive fix it has not worked for awhile, we can improve from within. Go Cashman.

Finally the NY Yankees are showing the cojones to play more prospects.

“This is the SLOWEST team in the world! Talk about not catching any breaks.”

That’s why we were one of the tops teams in the league last year in SB’s.

How ’bout them Wright boys!!! Great job, Chase!!!
