Four scoreless for Karstens

Jeff Karstens pitched for Class A Tampa tonight against Clearwater.

4 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, 5 K’s. 52 pitches/42 strikes.

Brian Cashman reports that Kastens was rusty, which was expected. They’re not sure whether he will need another rehab start or not. But somebody has to pitch against the Red Sox this weekend.

In other news:

No tests were done on Carl Pavano today. So either they believe it’s just muscle soreness or they’re tired of wasting money on MRIs. … Boston has lined up Schilling, Beckett and Matsuzaka to face the Yankees at Fenway this weekend.
