Hype outpacing reality at this point

The always entertaining Bob Ryan writes today that the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry has gottten out of hand.

Have to say, I agree. Now they play 19 times a season, it’s a bit silly to place so much focus on one series or one game.

What I find ironic is how the players, managers and coaches treat it. There is more significance only because of the attention paid to the games. But the Yankees don’t hate the Red Sox (or vice-versa) like they did back in the 1970s. The fans and media are far more consumed with it.

Sorry, but I don’t think these three games will decide anything. They will be fun, however.
