A-Rod moving up the charts

Career home runs:

21. Lou Gehrig and Fred McGriff 493
23. Frank Thomas 490
24. Alex Rodriguez 478

So far this season, A-Rod has passed Dave Winfield, Manny Ramirez, Willie Stargell, Stan Musial and Jim Thome on the career list. That’s pretty good company.

He is on a pace that would give him 126 homers and 306 RBI. I’m pretty sure those would be records.

His OPS is 1.507, which is funny to even type. Barry Bonds is next at 1.270.

Imagine if when the Yankees get to San Francisco in June Bonds is close to Aaron and A-Rod is on a pace to break Bonds’ single-season record. ESPN might end all programming and show those games on a constant loop.
