Jeter: bruised left thigh

The Yankees said that Derek Jeter has a bruised left thigh. I went to journalism school and I could have told you that.
He is officially day-to-day.
The Yankees said that Derek Jeter has a bruised left thigh. I went to journalism school and I could have told you that.
He is officially day-to-day.
Hahahaha… Michael Kay just said “Miguel Cairo tied a major league record with 3 assists [in an inning]”
Did they say how bad it is?
It’s not officially a Yankee game unless a Yankee gets injured.
will the yankees ever retaliate?
Ok, I know it was probably not intentional but when the F are the Yankees going to start retaliating for hit batters. Boston does it every series if not every game. Tampa is almost as bad.
Sack it up Joe. Regain your dominance and send a message.
i cant believe it
Now Wang gwet’s scalded on the left thigh. Boy is this team snakebit
Nice play, Phelps!
This is all Steinbrenner’s fault… He sold his soul for Randy Johnson, Gary Sheffield, and other over paid professionals. This is unbelievable.
Awesome DP.
Man I missed the Wanger. He’s at 70 pitches through 6. 7 IP from a Yankee Starter….havent said that much lately.
Can Cairo have more of a spaghetti arm? He’s like the Latin David Eckstein.
BTW, this first base ump is a joke. The calls did balance out though.
“Man I missed the Wanger. He’s at 70 pitches through 6. 7 IP from a Yankee Starter….havent said that much lately.
And yet they’re going to lose again!
We need to knock kaz out of the game!! Get into their pen!
Impressive outing by Kasmir. 2 hits through 6. Where’s A-Rod. the innings are running out.
Hey random question for anyone who knows the answer….why is it that the All-Star game is going to be played in an NL park for the second straight year? (Its in San Fran this year and was in Pittsburg last year). I thought MLB was supposed to be rotating each year between AL and NL parks. Seems questionable to do this given that home-field advantage for the World Series rests on the outcome of the game. Anyone know the answer?
I’m liking how Phelps is swinging the bat lately.
yeah me too rey22. maybe he found something, his defense has also looked alot better.
Pete,
The only thing funnier is when they add, “he is day to day” with the injury report.
Phelps is looking like a good pick-up right about now.
thank God for Jorge. He’s clutch like A-Rod without the homers.
Wow! I forgot what a starting pitcher in the 7th looked like.
Joe’s not going to yank wang is he? No pun intended.
Wait till you see one in the 8th.
Jeter is day to day….and aren’t we all.
Why is Vizcaino even putting on a baseball glove?
He needs to not see time until at least Thursday.
Thank god for Melky’s arm, saved a run there, hopefully they can stop it here.
oh great. dont tell me they are taking wang out and its just a glitch in gameday … i thought vizcaino had the day off …
Vizcaino, huh?
Ugh.
Its so frustrating. Doesn’t matter who pitches, they can’t get #8 and #9 hitters out in any lineup. Its killed them all year.
Now, Torre brings in a guy (Vizcaino) who has allowed 12 inherited runners to score in his last 4 outings. I’d say, “What is he thinking” but, I know he isn’t.
I don’t agree with this strategy at all. Not a second guess, its a first guess. Hope it works but, I am skeptical.
I’ll say it now!! I don’t like this move! he’s blown 2 games for us.
Torre seems to think a one run lead is cause for mass defensive subsitutions – and stupid ones to boot.
They could win this game by 10 runs. They could lose this game by 10 runs.
C’mon Vizcaino, preove them all wrong and get the outs!
Wow..back to Viz…incredible. Also, take a look at how the bottom of the 9th lineup is shaping up…Cabrera, Minky and Cairo. Did Torre really think the game was over with a 3-2 lead?
Any Torre defenders have an answer for this one?
always good to walk the bases loaded for a guy who starts everybody 2-0 UGH!
Um…
If they wanted the double play, they should have left Wang in there…
I’ve been watching on gameday. Why was Wanger taken out? He couldn’t get out of his own jam or was he looking tired?
Ugh, usually there is something logical about the moves that Torre makes, but this is getting ridiculous.
okay… so the question’s asked now… before he does anything…
... what should Torre have done?
kept Wang in, at how many ever pitches?
or gone to the bullpen?
in a one run lead?
anyone?
The only way to justify taking Wang out is that it’s his first major league game of the year and they don’t want to overtax him. But he hadn’t even thrown 80 pitches. Wang could’ve gone on easily from there.
That was an unbelievably stupid move on a night when they needed to rest the bullpen. shakes head
i dont agree with this move at all cuz if you got wang in there atleast if you load them up wang has a better chance of getting the dp then does vizc i dont like this move
I agree, I don’t like the quick hook for Wang. I’d rather take my chances with him than Vizcaiano at this point.
whoa lucky on that one!! ONE MORE!! PROVE ME WRONG
Derek who? Cairo’s the man! Anybody rooting for the Yankees here?
Whoops—I was wrong, Wang threw 81 pitches. The complaints still holds.
Sammy: Wang is capable of throwing a lot more than 81 pitches in a game. Really.
hey… we got one.
let’s go.
one more.
c’mon, Luis.
i think i understand why Joe loves Cairo. He sits on the bench all year (what has he had like 4 at bats). He obviously doesn’t think he is going to play tonight- especially at short. Yet, he comes in and makes that bare-handed play and that play on the line drive. That is invaluable to have a guy you can ‘trust’ to fill in and not only not kill you- but make veteran plays like that. Amazing.
I am rooting for the Yanks. That’s why I wanted Wang to stay in the game….
hell of a play by miggy hopefully we can end this with no harm done but talk about close
A frozen rope saves Torre…at least for now. Wow, bringing in Viz was awful.
Keith – but in his first game back?
really? More than 81 pitches?
in a one-run ball game?
c’mon, Mike.
Halloween up.
So let me get this straight. With the bullpen dead, and Wang pitching economically, and with a chance for an inning ending DP, Torre yanks him for one of the worst pitchers in the pen. After pulling two good bats out of the game for stiffs.
And now a hard lineout by Harris brings up a man who is 3-3.
Joe Torre is a terrible in-game manager. Anyone who says anything else, I challenge you to look at this last inning and tell me one intelligent thing he has done.
Geez, the people on this board are so used to failure they bash every move before anything happens. There was a time when Torre always made the right move, I for one am keeping the faith.
It was still a bad decision.
Now Myers to face 3-3 Crawford.
No problem with taking Wang out in that situation. He was getting the ball up, and he did his job.
BIG problem with bringing in Vizcaino. Dumb move and he was lucky it paid off.
Now, let’s see if Myers can get Crawford.
Who would I have brought in. How should I say this…..ANYBODY but the guy who has allowed 12 inherited baserunners to score in his last 4 outings.
Wow. This is the place to come to second guess EVERY move made in a game.
Is it supposed to be this hard to beat the Devil Rays?
THANKS JOE!!
Joe strikes again!
And so the Sean Henn era finally begins. Please Joe? Pretty please?
Looks like an intelligent move now. Viz gets one out.
Myers gets one out. Inning over, no runs scored. Yankees up with Rivera in the 9th?
If Torre’s plan works, he’s a genius. If Torre’s plan doesn’t work, it was still a good plan.
ok I was wrong, move sucked.
Wow.
Myers is officially USELESS.
wow well that couldn’t have been any worse too bad wang pitched a hell of a game
pretty soon… the bullpen will hold the lead.
they will do their jobs.
that’s why they’re there.
Let the second guessing begin.
...
This team is a joke. No other way to put it.
Perfect. Just what we needed.
i hate my team… why have a guy whos responsibile for 1 batter and have him give up grand slams?
OK, Torre must be fired. Enough is enough.
Well, at least CRawford is on my fantasy team.
How does this happen every night to this team?? Wang pitches good, get the lead and the pen blows it again.. I just don’t know anymore!!
Damn Myers was so good for the first week. And now he is god awful. Maybe Joe overplayed his hand and should have stuck with Viz.
unbelievable.
Joe Torre strikes again. Please for the love of God George, fire this man tonight and save your season.
They won’t win 75 games with this man managing the team. He is awful and now he has the “honor” at $7 million per year, to be managing a last place team.
Here is another dumbell Torre move. Why take Myers out now? The game is over, let him finish the inning and don’t burn out your bullpen for another night.
Nope. Clueless Joe strikes. He has to be gone. Please George, be lucid for one freaking day and send him packing.
Sweet, I come home from the gym to watch a freaking grand slam. Fantastic.
No, if Joe Torre’s plan worked out he was a lucky son of a bitch.
Now he’s a retarded son of a bitch.
How are you going to defend this one, Pete? Joe Torre has now lost the Yankees a game they should have won by any measure. Taking out Wang at 81 pitches, ESPECIALLY when the bullpen is in such crap shape, was probably the stupidest thing Joe Torre has done this year. Completely, COMPLETELY indefensible.
It’s sad when the fans are right more than the manager.
Time to fire Torre. He is clueless. He hits the panic button right away. Also what is wrong with Sean Henn? He has not pitched in a while. He cant get lefties out? Mike Myers stinks. He either lets up hits or walks rm. I cant understand Tore’s moves. He can’t run a bullpen.
joe torre…
Jake…if you trying reading, you’d realize we are all several steps ahead of Clueless Joe. He really needs to be fired. That’s not an irrational statement…it’s cold, hard reality. The game has completely passed Torre buy.
Nice…bring in Bruney now. Lets load some pitches on his arm.
Well I was hoping to be proven wrong. well what a shock i wasn’t! Both Luis and Myers have stunk lately! why put them in a situation to fail??? wanger deserved this win!!
No, he should have stuck with Wang. And Myers is eating up a roster spot. There is no need for a LOOGY who can’t get lefties out.
And now the lineup has three black holes.
If Torre got credit for the World Series wins, he should take credit for being a horrendous in-game manager for the last several years.
Torre is gone by Memorial Day.
dont blame torre because myers sucks
Prediction
Myers is gone by Friday. If he cant get out left handers hes absolutely worthless to this team. Hes taking up a roster spot when we need pitching.
He really has to get out 2 guys. Ortiz and Crawford. And he cant do it.
Lizziemcguire:
Go back to Massachussettes. Stop posting on this board you Red Sox troll.
motherf@%&*r!!!!
I’m not happy about the Grand Slam, but it’s Joe’s fault? Explain this to me. Torre goes for the lefty-lefty matchup and Myers gives up a gopher ball. That’s Joe’s fault how?
can’t believe i’m writing this… but joe’s gotta go…
one awful move after another this season… is the pressure to win finally getting to him? he’s outthinking himself in the dugout like a-rod did at the plate last year.
Torre needs to be relived of his duties. He is not a minimally compemtent MLB manager.
No it’s not his fault that Myers gave up a HR. It’s his fault that he yanks Damon and Phelps from the game with a one run lead as if the Rays could never tie or go ahead. Now we have a weakened offense with which to try and get back in the game.
Torre blows.
If Farnsworth doesn’t pitch in the 8th to rest the other arms…
Bitching about Torre wont help anything. Hes not the one who put faith in Pavano, Igawa and Rasner. Thats on Cashman. We all knew before the yr we didnt have enough SP to win 100 games but we thought they’d at least go 6 innings.
Sean Henn? Is he on the team? Or is he injured too? Fire Torre and let Joe Girardi take over.
mike myers needs to go…bring up a kid or something…he is terrible
Pete will defend Clueless Joe because he is nice to him during postgame interviews. The NY media is toothless when it comes to holding Torre accountable for anything.
This is a bad, gutless baseball team with an even worse manager.
I know its still early but man watching these games are P’ing me off.
If your going to walk the guy and try to setup a double play why not let Wang who is a sinker ball pitcher go for it????? Yes Viz did his job. But in the end the plan backfired anyway.
So frustrating. Every other night we score 8 runs for a starter who lasts 4 and gives up 8. Tonight we get a good outing from Wang and he gets no support.
I am sick to my stomach. Living in Sox land and being a Yankee fan I sometimes have to run for the bushes when I see them (SoxFans) coming. Especially after watching our leads squander late in the games.. This game was in hand and the smell of victory. Would Girardi or Mattingly make the wrong move repeatedly?? I don’t know!
this bullpen is pathetic.. i dont care want to hear about this over-worked nonsense!!!!
its like these older guys dont even care anymore.. there is no passion or fire on this team.
just bring up all the kids, atleast they would try hard
Jake- Whatdoes misusing the bullpen have to do with the starting rotation? Im a little confused here
Hey, I’ve got to jump in…what’s Joe gonna say after the game about taking Wang out? I can think of a few…let’s see if you guys are on the same page.
Wang is on his first start back from an injury, do you really want to run him out there and see how long it takes for him to reaggrivate his hamstring? How can you be a yankees fan and hate the yankees at the same time?
Myers should be traded and his spot given to Britton or someone else who can get innings.
People said he was on so he could pitch against Big Papi, well, Henn showed he can do it.
Don’t forget, Clueless Joe Torre is the genius that chose Jeff Weaver over Mariano Rivera in a crucial World Series game.
How was Wang pitching before he left? He was only at 81 pitches, WTF??
I love how Torre apologists never defend his moves…just the man. I like Joe too…he’d be great telling stories on YES. He is a complete liability on the bench.
Its very simple….He has killed his bullpen 3 weeks into the season. They now have to find 5 arms for the ‘pen because Joe Torre overused them AGAIN.
IIRC, Mike Myers has pitched more this month than ANY month in his career. Nice move Joe.
Let’s see, after tonight’s loss they are now 0-3 against Boston, 1-3 against TB, and 1-2 against Baltimore. That’s 2-8 against the AL East, with 5 more AL East games coming up.
So, when is enough enough with the Joe Torre era? Three more losses in a row? Five? Ten?
At some point, you have to have a clue about in game situations because you aren’t going to mash every night. He doesn’tand this is the 7th of the 11 losses this yr COMPLETELY on him.
Worst in game manager in the sport and he is now running a last place team. Fire him and do it tonight or enjoy losing all year.
25 hits (& counting) in two games to Tampa Bay.. and I thought we were making Red Sox hitters look better than they were.
He’s overmanaging the Yankees to a below .500 record. His pinch-running moves are completely retarded. His bullpen changes are retarded. He still thinks young pitcher = bad pitcher. And he’s got a man crush on anopther bad reliever.
........anyone else starting to wonder if perhaps they should have fired Torre in October?
Not impressed with Guidry either. Wasn’t last year.
lizzie, which game are you talking about?
“This is a bad, gutless baseball team with an even worse manager.”
How long before this terrible poster with an even worse handle gets banned?
Pete- Why does Torre refuse to bring in Henn to get lefties out? I would have gone to Henn instead of Vizcaino. He can get Righties and lefties out equally. It makes no sense to me.
So does this mean Mo gets to pitch again tonight?
Torre is addicted to doing “stuff” just for the sake of doing “stuff”.
Oh come on. Fire Joe Torre right now on the field.
Matt, you really don’t understand. Wang had 81 pitches, and he was the best shot for getting out of that inning. But Torre brings in Vizcaino, who has sucked repeatedly, and gets lucky. And then he did the right thing by bringing in Myers, but the onus is on him for not leaving Wang in there to work out of trouble. It was a retard move, one of many retard moves by him this season. If you can’t see it, then you’re not watching the games.
A Yankees fan who actually cares about this team would also be asking for Torre’s head on a platter.
i can see why he took wang out, it was his first game of the year, but still let him go another batter or two. hes a ground ball machine ! the reason the bullpen blows is because torre is burning them out. if the starting pitching went 6 or 7 every night torres BP calls wouldn’t be a problem. its partially his fault.
Losers lightin up.. Myers has not thrown many innings if a lefty specialist cannot get out lefyies that is a problem..
Myers should be on a short leash if he does not turn it around soon, adios…
Can someone please explain to me why the hell Matsui is out?
Matt- We arent blaming Joe for taking Wang out. We are blaming him for puting Vizcaino and Myers in. Myers stinks. He walks lefties half the time
I’m not sure what weakened offense we’re talking about.
Damon was 1-4. Phelps was 1-3.
is it different? Sure. Is it that bad? No.
Myers doesn’t have that many innings.
so what’s the excuse?
Torre shouldn’t use Myers anymore?
man… bad news.
sure.
but it’s not the end of the world.
it’s the middle of April, again.
“lizzie, which game are you talking about?”
Game 4 of the World Series vs the Florida Marlins.
f@ck this sh*t is frustrating. i absolutely hate torre’s use of his pitching staff. godd@amnit.
i only want to see Henn, Bruney and Rivera pitch from this bullpen..
everyone else is useles..
I think A-Rod finally cooled down too….
FIRE
JOE
TORRE
Why does Giambi refuse to bunt? he has half the field and we need baserunners. He seems to think about stats over the team
A-Rod struck out.
trade him.
he’ll be gone by Memorial Day.
c’mon… where are people with that?
this is the second game in the last three days that A-Rod hasn’t gotten a big hit in a “clutch” situation.
he needs to go.
geez.
trade him and Torre for Randy Johnson, a pastrami sandwich and a ginger ale.
Torre does it again… You wanna stick up for him again Pete Abraham?
I Hate XM Radio. I am a Yankee Fan. I don’t want to listen to Joe Schmow give his analysis about Alex Rodriguez and how that because he just struck out the New York Media is going to jump on him and say, “what have you done for me lately?” I HATE THIS CRAP. Doesn’t Sirus provide Home and Away broadcasts for NFL games? Why can’t XM do this? I guess because it would make sense….
A-Rod has one hit in his career against Kazmir and cant hit this Camp guy
Clueless panics once again. Wang should of been taken out after the first batter got on in the 7th. All of his pitches were up in that inning. Torre leaves him in way too long. Myers has not yet this season proved that he can get lefties out!! So why is he brought in, especially in that situtaion??!!! He should of brought in Henn. If Bruney is not available today then why is he pitching down by 3 runs???@!! Save him for tomorrow. Leave Myers out there. The Yanks got into this problem because the bullpen is SOOOO over used. So what does Clueless do??? He brings in another pitcher who 3 hours ago want available today. Is he EVER going to learn to leave the pitcher out there and save the bullpen for the next day.. I guess not. Get him out of here.
Go NYR i’d much rather have a power hitter like Giambi swinging the bat than bunting and getting on base with his blinding speed.
I can’t kill Torre for his managing tonight. This was Wang’s first start and he threw just 55 pitches in his last rehab start. He took a nasty ball off his thigh and was struggling in those last few innings. Bringing in a clearly gassed Vizcaino was a mistake, but he got away with it.
Unlike last Friday, this IS the situation you use Myers. Lefty batter, bases juiced, 1 run game, where a hit can cost you the game. Myers failed, but that’s not on Torre.
I too might have left Myers in to not kill Bruney. And I’d rather see Henn than Farnsworth in the 8th, unless we get closer.
The game is not lost yet. I was the first to kill Torre’s managing over the weekend but tonight isn’t on him.
Why would Giambi bunt when he’s hitting the way he has latley? Eitherway, he tried to bunt yesterday.
IT looks like the Yanks are gonna pull another defeat from the jaws of victory
c’mon Robby… let’s tie this one up.
let’s go.
I don’t think I can get angry any more. If the team doesn’t want to win, what can we as fans do?
I am also no longer going to rant against Joe. Just like I can’t kill Vizcaino for Torre bring him in the game, I can’t kill Joe for Cashman extending his tenure. Cashman is the man now…he is responsible for the team and he is the one dropping the ball by failing to act. If he doesn’t fire Torre, I am going to shift the blame to him. He talked G.S. out of the right move last season…now he needs to reverse course.
meant Jorge.
got ahead of myself.
mea culpa.
Oh, I see. Some of you think it is Joe’s fault for taking Wang out. He should have left him in. How did Wang fare against the last two batters he faced? Wang was getting tired, guys.
And then there’s the bunch who conveniently forget that Myers was lights out for a stretch there up to just a few days ago – righty, lefty it didn’t matter and he was going for more than one batter at a time. Joe went for the lefty-lefty advantage, the 100 % correct move.
You’re all looking for a scapegoat for tonight. Stop acting like spoiled little Steinbrenners.
Henn has been better than Myers and should have been used in that spot. But this whole team is a trainwreck so nothing can help now.
YankeeJosh…take a look at the 9 and 1 batters…then tell me what you think.
Because it is a 100 percent way of getting on base and the chances of him hitting a ball threw the shift are slim. When you are down by 3 and you can put the tying run at the platewith ease, you have to do it. I dont care if he has never bunted in his life. It is selfish to try and pull the ball to the right side every time up. If he bunted, this inning would still be going. If he did things right he could get the runner from 1st to 3rd on a bunt. Thats why he should bunt.
If George didn’t fire Joe after the debacle against the Tigers last postseason, he certainly isn’t going to have a quick trigger this year. Maybe if the Yanks are solidly in last come the All Star break, then he might be compelled to make a move. But, remember, George isn’t the healthy young fella he used to be…I think he’s too old and tired to shake things up in dramatic fashion like he used to. So, Joe is staying on that bench for the foreseeable future.
Pete do us all a favour and ask Joe some tough questions tonight, for example
“Joe are you planning on resigning anytime soon?”
“Joe what are you thinking”
“Joe why do you suck so much as a manager”
-thanks
Farnsworthless time!!!
last place is in 5 more outs.
Pulling Phelps and Damon was asinine, but pulling Wang seemed deliberately calculated to maximize the damage. Watching this team is turning into an exercise in masochism.
Or, Giambi’s poor/non-existant bunting skills catch up and he pops one to the catcher or puts one right in front of home plate.
Thurman, I recall a day where A-Rod was 0-4 then hit a walk-off 3-run shot, so I wouldn’t put the ice on him just yet.
Since Torre made his “defensive” moves taking out Phelps and Damon …and Jeter is hurt…we’ll have Melky, Minky, and Miguel batting. Not too promising for a 9th inning rally.
I wish someone would announce over the loud speaker at the game “Girardi please leave the broadcast booth and go to the bench and join your team, you are now the manager”.
Myers hasn’t been able to get out lefties consistently since 2005. But if Torre intended to load the bases to get a groundball double play, as he clearly did. It’s purely idiotic to pull the best groundball pitcher on the staff.
Bringing in Vizcaino, who has been overworked and isn’t that good, was also stupid. He got lucky on the lineout.
And his lineup moves are a friggin’ disaster.
Torre is a moron, and should have been fired a few years ago. Deal with it.
Sorry AAC, your vocabulary is too advanced for me, please define “Masochism”, thank you
Hard to think A-Rod will even get a chance to bat in the 9th
Murphydog: Perfectly stated. Joe has made many poor decisions but blaming him for today is just looking for a scapegoat. This was the exact situation to use Myers.
Will: I didn’t love the move but I do understand trying to tighten the defense. I’d have probably waited another inning, but Joe would have looked like a genius if Minky made a great run saving play or if Melky through a runner out. I can’t kill him for the move.
what’s the alternative here?
not bringing in someone with the bases loaded in the seventh with a one-run lead? Just sticking it out with your pitcher in his first start of the year, who’s thrown for 81 pitches already and has loaded up the bases in the first place?
would any of you manage the same way?
for the record, he put in Vizcaino… and he got the out.
what more could he do?
he put in Myers for a lefty/lefty matchup.
he’s the lefty specialist.
he put one in the zone, and Crawford crushed it.
who would’ve done differently?
if he left Wang in, and they took the lead… would that have been MORE acceptable? What if they kept tacking on to it? We let a game go just so we don’t go to the bullpen? Is there a fan that would honestly say we should do that? To let one game go… and be in last place?
someone give me a reasonable alternative here.
because I can’t find one.
Get the Rocket back and then let Joe resign!!!
I can understand some of the stuff Joe did, but why was Phelps pinch run for?
lizziemcguire:
Oh, I get it now. (I’m so slow sometimes). Joe did the right thing by bringing in a lefty to face a lefty, he just obviously brought in the wrong lefty because he gave up a gopher ball.
Whatever happened to Ramiro Mendoza? Man, do I miss that guy!
I am hokding out hope that Steinbrenner will realize he doesn’t have a season to give away and order Cashman to come up with a replacement. Mattingly doesn’t need to be thrust into the position right now. Bowa and Pena both have mangerial experience and Girardi is up in the both now. Any of those three would make a fine interim manager.
Sammy-Why is Myers the “lefty specialist” The only thing he specializes in is walkingg lefties or giving up big hits. He is useless in big spots. He chokes.
Wang didn’t load the bases. Vizcaino did. Bringing him in to issue an intentional walk is always stupid. But Torre decided to overmanage a tired bullpen, and he paid the price for his idiocy.
And now we’re going to lose 5 in a row and fall further under .500. If Torre cannot win with this much talent, he doesn’t deserve to manage. It’s only worse that he fouls up the situation actively.
I like Joe and I think he should stay through the year. Not his fault that Myers blew it today. Funny though how the bullpen was considered a strength a week ago and now can’t get the crucial outs. That’s baseball.
I say trade or cut Myers and make Igawa a 2nd lefty in the pen. He’s a strikeout pitcher who could be effective in that role. There won’t be room for him in the pen anyway once the rotation is Clemens, Wang, Pettitte, Mussina, Hughes.
No, I will blame Torre. First we stunk because we didn’t have pitching. “We’re getting Wang back!”, people say. Fine, he’s back. He’s our “savior” so tell me, why are the same people that died to get him back claiming Torre was right for pulling him? He’s the only pitcher that looked MLB ready for the past 2 weeks (except Pettitte and Bruney of course). Why can’t he throw more than 85 pitches?? Arm strength was already said to not be a problem.
Cano has looked shaky up there
Bring in Charlie Manuel and let him yell for a while
thank you, sammy. thank you josh. At least I don’t feel like I am living in Bizarro World.
Ron: Intelligent criticism like yours is always appreciated.
YankeeJosh…if Torre is managing that scared, it really is time for him to go.
murphydog, well said.
Most of the rest of you make me wanna kill myself. Not because I’m so depressed about the game, because you’re all whining like spoiled children and it’s annoying.
A-rod’s 0-4, should they cut him, waive him, or send him to AAA?
What happened to Damon?
Pulling his CF in a 3-2 game in the 7th inning is just dumb. This team doesn’t win low scoring, one run games.
Plus, the 7th inning is too early to pull a hitter in the lineup. Especially, with Jeter out. I guess everybody forgot about Friday night. I know Joe did, since he made the same freaking mistake tonight.
Myers WAS effective. When he wasn’t overused. Should he have been in there tonight? Debatable.
What isn’t debatable is using Vizcaino again. He got lucky to get the out. However, it was still the wrong decision.
For the sake of this discussion, let’s say Joe was “correct” tonight. Well, tonight is a night when blowing 5 3+ run leads (4 of them DIRECTLY on Torre’s misuse of personnel and in game situations) come back to bite you.
The guy has to go. All this BS is just laughable after awhile.
2-8 against the AL East, a 5 game, and climbing, losing streak, and they now reside in last place.
2000 was a very long time ago. He has to go and tonight is as good a night as any to do it.
If not, we gotta get used to losing Yankee fans because its only getting worse, not better, under his regime.
As Bill Parcells says, “You are what your record says you are”. Tonight, the Yankees are in last place in the AL East.
That says it all.
Sammy, that’s way too easy. Sean Henn. Any other questions?
Game over. Mient K wicz
If Damon is always going to be hurt then do not play!!! I am sick of him always leaving the game and then over matched Melky being in the lead off spot. Kevin T. can hit too bad no one likes him and they would rather have Melky continue to make out after out. Melky is totally useless to the team right now.
Charlie Manuel may be the only manager I wouldn’t prefer over Torre.
A-Rod for Prez:
Try to follow along here. Wang got tired. It’s his first start of the season. He looked bad on the last two guys he faced. It was time to take him out.
I could care less about this game. I’m just happy A-Rod is staying in New York.
Go NYR – if you think that, then we should let go of Mariano. Why don’t we do that, too?
why not? Because he’s blown a game. One. In April.
It’s April. Myers has 143 more games. They all do.
Ron – valid point. Viz intentionally walked the bases, not Wang. But Wang put two runners in scoring position, threatening the lead. So, take the 4 balls softly tossed out of the strike zone to the catcher… what would you have done after Wang intentionally walked the batter?
Why pinch-hit Minky?
if joe torre is managing with such panic and desperation in April, imagine what he’ll do if they run into trouble in August.
This sh*t is ridiculous. just once i’d like to see the Yankees not start the season absolutley miserable. i can’t imagine we can rely on dominance/the Sox to roll over and die in the second half EVERY year.
Seriously if Joe is managing scared then Cash needs to talk to him fast
it is only April but they can’t fal too far behind or they will use all their energy to gt back into it like in 05 and have nothing left in Oct. If Joe is scared and the Boston first game showed it then perhaps in his 12th year he needs to leaveStengel was not as good is his 12th year and Joe Mccarthy was burned out in his 16th.Good job Joe…you can have your warm milk and head to bed now.
If striking out Ortiz didn’t earn Henn a shot at being THE lefty out of the pen, then nothing he does will.
And I think the even worse move was bringing in that dud vizcaino again. He gave up a scorched line-drive and he was just flat out lucky it was right at the SS.
But this is what clueless joe is. He’s not going to change at this stage, so if George can tolerate losing, then so be it, I guess.
the guy who should be managing this team is sitting in the YES booth doing color.
Harley:
Perfect second guess. You share the “20-20 hindsight” award for tonight’s game with lizziemcguire.
Sammy- You are an idiot to compare Myers to Rivera. Mike Myers is a loser. Always has been, always will be. He throws 80 mph. You can pthow an 80 mph pitch down the middle and expect to strike people out. What does Myers have to do with Rivera any way?
news flash, Melky is a better hitter than Kevin freaking Thompson, and a better fielder. Enough with that one already. The guy’s in a slump, leave it alone.
Murphydog- It is not second guessing. Its common sense. Myers is awful
In reality, Torre probably doesn’t even care that much anymore. As long as he has hit hot tea to sip on during the game and he gets his paycheck, what does it matter to him if they win or lose? He knows he’ll get no criticism from the the press and Steinbrenner is too sick to do anything anyway.
the whole bullpen besides mo sucks right now…bring up whelan and cut myers. we need a bench player and should have tradded melky for gonzalez. This is just absurd how bad the bullpen is
I am taking the under that Torre will be gone by Memorial day. Horrible pitching decsions. He has ruined the bullpen every year since they blew the 2001 World Series.
Time to go.
OH MY GOD. Yankee fans have turned into pre-2004 Red Sox fans. What a bunch of friggin crybabies you are. “Trade A-Rod” “Fire Torre” wah wah wah. I wish Pete could somehow limit comments to those fans who remember what it is like to be a fan prior to 1996. It’s embarrassing how many Yankee fans have become spoiled babies. You don’t deserve to be fans of this team. Go back to your Xbox fantasy world where you’re starters can throw 200 pitches without getting tired and all relievers throw 105 mph. Losers.
Harley – Henn may have been an option. Didn’t he just pitch two nights ago, in multiple innings? I think he did, in the Chase Wright game.
I don’t believe Myers did at all.
Torre is doing the best. he. can.
with what he has to work with.
SJ44- you said that there were four games directly lost on “Torre’s misuse of personnel and in game situations.” One of those games was the Chase Wright game, giving up four straight homeruns. The only two alternatives, again, that I can think of:
1) going to your bullpen and pulling him after the second or third… or fourth, for that matter. That would’ve gotten criticism from everyone.
2) leaving him in and risking him getting waxed repeatedly in the later innings, and potentially throwing a one-run deficit in the early goings of a game. I don’t think any fan would’ve enjoyed that.
again… what’s Torre to do?
right now, he’s damned either way.
Another Torre loss…this Yankee season has been a battle of two opposing forces…Arod’s lethal bat versus Joe’s clueless managing. Arod is losing the battle, but at least he isn’t batting 8th.
Usually, I support Torre… but tonight…
7th inningTorre had decided to intentionally walk Rocco Baldelli in an effort to get the double play.
Torre brings in Vizcaino to get the DP.
What the heck????
Wang got more ground ball outs then ANY OTHER PITCHER IN THE MAJORS last year. He had 12 ground ball outs in the game. Brendon Harris was 0-3 WITH THREE GROUND BALL OUTS.
Wang only had 81 pitches. Why pull him?????
And let’s not forget the dandy: Melky pinch-running for Phelps. Instead of Cano-Phelps-Damon in the ninth, we had Cano-Cabrera-Mientkiewicz.
Chicago Dave asked a pertinent question. The answer is this:
He was Torred. As in, Quantrilled. Proctored. Villowned.
lizzie:
Wow. Striking out Ortiz mens you face all lefties from now on? Interesting. Viz gets the out so that proves he’s bad. Even more interesting.
By the way, congratulations on winning the 20-20 hindsight award tonight.
Wanger didnt get the run support he deserves, what a pitty, that’s really a quality start Yankees was looking for… (as contrary to previous starters, sigh…
its just painful to watch them lose like this over and over again… seems like joe is asking to get canned with these boneheaded defensive substitutions and reliance on the same crappy relievers…
and as much as i loved having melky on the team last year, he is hurting this ballclub. i know he’s got a great arm but let him see some at bats in AAA and give someone else a shot here.
Zach:
Guess you didn’t see the game either. Did you see Wang’s last two batters before he went to the dugout? He was getting tired.
Phelps in a different league than Mient. Even his outs are better hit than Mient’s hits!
Lefty Righty, who gives a @#$%!, Phelps had the winning RBI and Joe takes him out?!!
Go NYR – both Myers and Rivera have blown games this year already. So has Farnsworth and Vizcaino. Under your rationale, they all stink and should be let go/traded.
I don’t see how Torre is managing with desperation.
he’s managing to win the game.
what’s exactly wrong with that?
Billy…thanks for bringing nothing to the table. If you can’t handle logical criticism, why don’t you just leave the debate to fans who actually care about whether the team wins.
If Joe was walking to get the bases loaded for a Double play, the best pitcher in league to get a ground ball WAS on the mound!!!
Its not like Myers grooved one for Crawford that was a tough pitch.
“Wow. Striking out Ortiz mens you face all lefties from now on? Interesting. Viz gets the out so that proves he’s bad. Even more interesting.”
No…Henn has also looked very good in his other appearances, too. I think he earned a shot at getting a meaningful out.
And you must not watch the games if you think Vizcaino is any good at all. He was flat out lucky tonight. If that’s OK with you, then great, you can join his fan club.
Can’t wait to see Peter spin this one. Somehow we’re all fools and Torre was right—because Torre is always right.
Okay. Let’s review: you have a pitcher who’s pitching well with a low pitch count; he gives up two hits and there are men on second and third; your idea is to walk the bases loaded and go for the double play.
So what do you do?
Do you leave in the pitcher who induces the MOST GROUNDBALLS AND DOUBLE PLAYS IN THE MAJORS?
No. You bring in a guy who is totally overworked and hasn’t been good lately.
The Myers move actually makes sense; he’s supposed to get lefties out.
But taking out Wang and then playing for the double play? That’s so asinine it’s baffling. Wang was fine and was only at 82 pitches. You leave him in and let him try to get another ground ball.
At that point in the game, who’s a better pitcher: Wang with a low pitch count or an exhausted Vizcaino?
Torre is just killing this team. He’s so obtuse it’s incomprehensible. When will Mattingly or Guidry step up and say something?
I don’t know what to say, but that this team finds new and exciting ways to lose games.
by the way… if I’m seeing scores correctly…
... Boston and Baltimore both lost tonight, too.
sure, Toronto and Tampa won.
but that’s the top two teams of the division coming down and the middle two going up.
we didn’t lose another game to anyone except the Blue Jays and Devil Rays. We play Toronto 18 more times, and Tampa 14 more.
but, by all means… let’s call in the EMT’s on the season.
Good night little Steinbrenners. Like your namesake, you know just enough baseball to be dangerous – - and really really wrong.
I love the venom coming from the Yankee fans who fancy themselves “diehards” and refuse to criticize Torre out of a misplaced sense of loyalty. The same misplaced sense of loyalty that Torre assigns to T.J. Beam, Felix Heredia, Ron Villone, among others in recent years.
We’re b*tching about this team, about Torre, because he completely screwed up this game. He overmanaged and depleted the lineup while putting the overworked bullpen in a position to fail. I’ve been following the Yankees for a long time. I’ve thought Torre was a bonehead for several years. Now I’m sure of it.
Cashman’s roster moves have left something to be desired. But that simply cannot be used in Torre’s defense. He has a crapload of talent to work with, and he’s doing it badly. Cashman handed him the most talented roster in baseball. No, it’s not perfect, but it never is.
Now we’ve lost five in a row and have to rely on a guy who will be a tremendous pitcher one day, but is under a microscope and will probably have a rough first outing. 11-19, here we come!
On the bright side, with the way this team is playing, they really should be 5-14, if A-Rod wasn’t playing Superman. It could be much worse, but if the bullpen doesn’t improve, it won’t get much better.
THIS ***** GIVES ANOTHER GAME AWAY…..TAKES WANG OUT OF THE GAME AND THEN WALKS THE NEXT BATTER INTENTIONALLY TO TRY AND SET UP A DOUBLE PLAY. HE BRINGS DEAD ARM VIZCAINO IN WHO DODGES A BULLET BUT THEN GOES TO CR.APPY MIKE MYERS WHO GIVES UP A GRAND SLAM. IF YOU’RE TRYING TO GET A DOUBLE PLAY, LEAVE WANG IN THE *ING GAME YOU *ON. TORRE OVER MANAGING YET AGAIN, COSTS THE YANKS ANOTHER GAME. 5 GAME LOSING STREAK AND WITH JOE TORRE AS MANAGER, THIS TEAM WILL NOT WIN ANYTHING. FIRE TORRE IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, you people are ridiculous. The bullpen was our strength a week ago, now you wanna trade them all and they all suck. Torre ruined them? Or they’re tired because our starters have given 4 inning performances repeatedly? Last time I checked, it’s only been 3 weeks, they’re pro-athletes, and I’m sure they’re not work out after 19 games. They need some rest.
I think you all need some warm milk yourselves. Turn the TV, internet, radio and cell phones off for a week. Come back next week when we’ve won a couple series and gotten back the whopping 3 games we’re under .500, and we’re right back in the race.
Is there any fight, grit, determination (call it what you will) on this team at all? Where’s the soul? Despite the fact that this team is a lot more talented (on paper, at least) than those lousy Yankee teams of the early ‘90s, it still reminds me a lot of those days…A real “so what?” attitude to losing…
murphydog…go away and comeback with something intelligent.
worn out after 19 games…
I know I’m frustrated and I’m sure everyone is. However, there were some positive signs tonight. Wang looked really good, and would have been even better if he was pitching on grass. The bullpen didn’t get overworked tonight. Just one and two thirds innings. I hated seeing Vizcaino in but he only faced one batter. Same for Bruney. Farnsworth worked an inning but Proctor didn’t. If we can get 7 innings from Pettitte tomorrow and 6 from Hughes, the bullpen might finally get some much needed rest.
It’s frustrating now but hopefully this is the start of better things to come.
Ok, step away from the caps lock button. ...Slowly…
Murphydog,
Ah, yes… Vizcaino and Myers were far more effective.
Wang only threw 81 pitches. One or two more pitches (against a guy who had grounded out against Wang in all of his previous at-bats) and his night is over.
I love the “There are still 143 games left” argument.
Guess what? The lost two games in Tampa that most teams win. If they did, they make up 2 games in the standings and put the sweep behind them. You don’t always get these chances to make up games in the standings, early or not.
Instead, in what has become typical Yankee fashion this yr, more bad moves by Torre, they lose and, “ho hum, just another loss”.
2-8 against the AL East, with 5 more AL East games coming up, and they are now in last place. I don’t buy the, “its early” argument.
As Yogi would say, “Its getting late early here”.
His bullpen is shot. Done. Finished for the season.
That means Brian Cashman has to find 4-5 arms for Torre to kill for the month of May. Then, 5 more in June, etc. Torre kills pitchers more than any manager in the sport. Its as much his legacy as those 4 WS rings.
He has two starting pitchers, Wang and Pettitte. As we saw tonight, you can pitch well as a starter and still lose. So, there goes the, “They will be fine once Wang comes back” argument. Same old Yankees tonight to me.
His other 3 starters are either garbage (Igawa), very young (Karstans) or a complete unknown (Hughes). Oh yeah, Carl Pavano could be back sometime in the next 18 months!!! Looking up, isn’t it?
If this team has 7 days it doesn’t hit, which it will because that’s just baseball, they have no chance to win any of those games. None. Especially with Joe Torre as manager.
The “defensive” switches tonight were truly Clueless Joe at his best.
This team hasn’t won 2-1, 3-2 games in years. You take out Phelps, who gave you the lead and is swinging the bat great, and Damon who, even when slumping is hitting better than Melky, is just flat out dumb.
You do it in the 9th inning, I understand it. Do it in the 7th? Flat out dumb. Like it was Friday night in Boston when he pulled Giambi too soon. That’s the problem with Joe these days. He never learns from his mistakes. He keeps making the same one’s over and over and over.
I fully expect him to drop ARod to the 8th spot in the lineup if he goes into a slump. Would be typical of Joe at this stage of his career.
So, his ninth inning contained two guys in the order who are hitting under .200. What a strategist!
He’s got to go folks. If he doesn’t, this team is going nowhere this yr.
The, “they are injured” excuse has to stop. Tampa didn’t miss their best hitter tonight, did they?
Toronto just swept Boston and they are beat up.
EVERY team has injuries. Its no excuse.
Tonight, this team is in last place. I don’t give a crap if its April or not. That’s where they are right now.
If that doesn’t get him fired, nothing will.
that was supposed to be asteriks before and after “worn out after 19 games” to correct my typo…
guess I know how to make things bold now.
Look guys, if you want to see how ridiculous you’re all being, YOU’VE BROUGHT FREAKING GLOOMY BACK!!!!!!
Chicago Dave, great post.
I don’t understand how people can, in the same post, say that they agree with Torre’s decisions and then say that he should be let go because he’s making such stupid decisions.
somehow, that doesn’t add up.
he’s trying to win the game.
his starting pitcher just got rocked with a single and a double in the late inning. He brought in a reliever, and loaded the bases.
is he playing the double play? Sure.
is he playing for anything hit on the ground to go home?
in the infield, sure… in the outfield, you limit it to one run. You take the sac fly, too. They tie it up, and you go from there.
that’s managing to win the game.
I think Girardi would do that, too… with those circumstances.
Really, who didn’t see this coming with the last 2 outs being made by the ridiculous defensive replacements?
SJ44 –
Well said, my man!
For me, the sad part was when Wang got took out, I just started laughing. (nervously I guess) The really sad part was me not being the bit surprised when Crawford hit the granny.
Now I’m not saying to fire Torre. But you have to wonder if George is healthy enough to keep an eye on this. I mean, this is the same owner who got talked out of firing Torre last year after the ALDS. Torre doesn’t pitch, but he does make pitching decisions. If this continues, which I hope doesn’t, somebody’s gonna take the fall.
SJ44…I can see you care about the team as much as I do. Don’t get too frustrated. Keep in mind that a lot of people here don’t care as much you do.
Ok I think I am reading this right, we all agree we should extend Torre now and fire A Rod now. Cool, glad we reached consensus.
sammy…he got “rocked” with a single and a double? Really? Do you want that statement to be taken seriously? Do you?
All we need is just a little PATIENCE.
Too bad Pete didn’t have this blog back when Dave Lapoint was our ace, Mel Hall was batting clean up, and Donnie Baseball was getting benched for not getting a haircut. Half of you guys would have jumped off the GWB. Go get your mommies to rub your backs and get a good night sleep. Check back in a few weeks when the Yanks are back in 1st. I’d love to hear what your gripes will be then. Maybe it will be back to A-Rod not smiling enough on the bench or how Matsui needs to move to 1st base. I can’t wait.
The “they don’t care argument” is completely ridiculous.
Losing is losing. The Yankees aren’t getting blown out 8-1 each night. They were shut down by Kazmir and then betrayed by their manager. I don’t see anything to indicate apathy.
If fire is Paul O’Neill screaming at an umpire, then I don’t want it. This idea of the team “lacking fire” is entirely subjective and entirely irrelevant. A lot of the players on this team don’t show their emotions on the field, like Wang and Matsui, among others.
“His bullpen is shot. Done. Finished for the season. That means Brian Cashman has to find 4-5 arms”
Ok, I’m really starting to think gloomy is using SJ44’s name, because now you’re talking complete nonsense. Unless I’ve missed it, you usually speak pretty intelligently on here. But come on, done for the season???? You must be having a bad week man.
No-one on here except the trolls is “ho hum” about the Yankees losing. I’ve wasted DAYS worth of hours of my life watching them lose lately that I could have back, but you nancies are way out of control getting ready to jump off a building already.
Good night ladies.
Billy, almost none of us are making any types of arguments like that. So shut up unless you actually have something productive to say. I find the concept of “appreciating” a good team playing bad baseball because you happened to suffer through bad Yankee teams just plain stupid. This team has the most talented roster in major league baseball, but it’s been mishandled and incredibly unlucky. We have stiff competition this year. If Torre doesn’t stop overmanaging, and the pitching staff doesn’t make a dramatic improvement, I can’t see us making the playoffs.
You can’t just assume that the Yankees will be back in 1st place. It will probably happen, but in spite of Joe, not because of him. Give blame when blame is due. Blame is defintiely due in this case.
Stop it with the bullsh*t about us whining. It’s even more childish on your parts.
How much longer will Torre be around?
If Boston sweeps NY AGAIN this weekend we could see Joe Girardi calling the shots.
The team will come back. We should be discussing if two years ago when they battled all season is more likely to lead to a quick ending or winning easy like last year causes playoff losses. I for one think the right answer is neither, the team with the best young pitching wins. That’s encouraging because during this Rebuilding Year we will compete and young pitchers including the best pitching prospect in baseball will lead us to the promised land soon.
uh guys the relievers this year have pitched more innings than the starters.
agreed, some of the isolated moves Torre makes with the pitching can be annoying, but that’s a minor issue.
the issue is that the pitching, overall, is a mess right now.
i think we will right the ship on this, but this is not on Torre at all whatsoever.
Dave LaPoint, Andy Hawkins, Dennis Rasmussen…Man, now there were some starters for ya! Meanwhile, Mel Hall was busy harassing poor young Bernie on the bench when he wasn’t being a lazy bastard out on the field… As bad as things are now, I think those Yankee teams were more depressing to watch. Then again, we hadn’t won a Series since ‘78 back then, so we didn’t know the difference, did we?! I guess that is something to keep in mind…
You are not fans of the NY Yankees, you are only fans of winning.
I guess this shouldn’t make me laugh, but here is Vizcaino’s workload before today’s game:
April 19 – 33 pitches
April 20 – 10 pitches
April 22 – 18 pitches
April 23 – 20 picthes
I sure hope he is ready to go again tomorrow. A Yankees game just wouldn’t be the same without Vizcaino pitching with his tired arm.
sure… they’ve lost two in Tampa that they should have won.
they had the lead all three games in Boston.
they’ve had the lead in how many games of the 12 that they’ve lost?
I got an idea.
let’s take a look at all the games played to see which losing team had a lead. And of those, which ones the bullpen lost the lead. Or even the starting pitcher.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: if someone can come up with a reasonable alternative with what he should’ve done… and what Girardi, or anyone else, would do different/better… than I’m all ears.
Proctor didn’t pitch. Henn didn’t pitch. Mariano didn’t pitch. Wait – should Joe have put in Mo? And if he got out of the inning? Keep him in? Run up his innings/pitches? If we win the game, who complains that we’re exhausting him, too?
Ron –
I’d take Paul O’Neill and his tirades back in a second…and most of the losses this year wouldn’t have been as close as they were if A-Rod wasn’t playing out of his mind.
SJ44 paints a very bleak picture. Unfortunately he is right on the money. The #1 move the Yankees need to make is to fire Joe Torre. He is a horrible in game manager. His value to the team was that he was a buffer between King George and the team. That value is negated when the team has not won a championship since 2000.
Torre had a lousy managerial record until in 1996 when he is handed a team that outspends everyone and hands him oodles of talent. Any manager can win with that. The telling thing is the play-offs when strategy counts and Joe has not produced.
The 2004 debacle got pinned on A-Rod but it was Torre’s lack of managing skills that caused that 3-0 lead to be lost. He should have been gone after 2004.
He ruins pitchers; see Tom Gordon, Ron Villone, and Paul Quantrill. Yes, this team sucks right now and may improve. Joe will never improve and should be gone.
Will – I’d call a single followed by a double to deep left center getting “knocked around” in a late inning.
maybe not “rocked”... that may have been an overstatement. I’ll admit to that. But if Wang’s getting batters to hit them in the outfield, he’s obviously not doing what he knows how to do.
agreed?
SJ44: “This team hasn’t won 2-1, 3-2 games in years.”
Yankees in 1-Run games
2004: 24-16
2005: 27-16
2006: 24-22
You are truly clueless…
Not one tough question on YES…how ironic is it that the only time Joe has ever been asked a tough question from the media was when they were planted by the Tampa brass.
Now, Kim Jones asks Torre about Matui’s jump from first and Cairo’s defense…who the hell cares!!
The NY media has become fanboy central.
Managers do not play the game. The Yankee players (namely the pitchers) are mediocre at best. Did you think Myers, Proctor, & Vizcaino would be lights out?
OK, I am not on the “Fire Torre” bandwagon, but is there a reason to pinch run for Phelps? Is he that slow, or is he injured?
Forgive me if the question is clueless, but the last two outs of the game were Cabrera and Ment-howeveryaspellit. I guess I’d rather have Damon up in that situation..
