Daisuke Matsuzaka is much better than he was on Sunday. It doesn’t hurt that Brian Runge is giving him the low strike. But good pitchers too take what they can get. He’s also topping out at 96.

He has thrown first-pitch strikes to eight of the first 13 batters he has faced and is much more economical this time around. You can tell he went to school on the Yankees.

That was a very good AB by A-Rod there. Maybe that will get them going.
