Just read that Colter Bean gets the callup over Rasner. Apparently, the Yankees need fresh arms in the pen, not in the rotation right now.

I never thought Mo was headed downhill. He looked crappy before because of lack of work. When he gets a regular groove going, he'll look like the Mo we all know and love.

Pete, we get regular updates on Mussina's progress on the DL, but oddly enough, not much about the Rajah. Last I heard, he was throwing on flat ground. Have the Yankees sort of just given up there where he's concerned.

How are the other guys treating him these days? Just curious if things have gotten chilly towards him again -- especially since is current wussiness has really hurt the team. The guy just seems very self-centered to me. I mean, there's Andy, offering to pitch from the pen. You gotta wonder...

Congrats to Igawa, he had another similiar game earlier this month, I just hope he can avoid Oliver Perez's fate which is "one good, one bad". When he's on he looks pretty good, he missed bad a couple times but otherwise a great job.

I said this yesterday regarding Pavano and I'll say it again, he should be fired. Karstens, as everybody is acknowledging, tried to pitch with a broken leg! He wants the ball. Pavano's got a mystery thing grabbing his arm. Last year he fell on his butt. He is a wuss. Try to trade him (yeah right) or release him outright.

Niel: I think Visciano can contribute, he started off alright, I'd give him another shot or two. But Farnsworth is a scary guy to have up in a close game. A 97 mph fastball two feet wide of the plate is not impressive.
Tavaras tomorrow, but soon he'll be gone when Lester gets back. If he returns to form...wow.
Schilling
Beckett
Matzusaka
Lester
Wakefield (Clemens???)
!!!! Damn! Clemens will not sign with the Yanks if they continue to struggle. He wants in on a team that will make the play-offs. So it's not only a matter of money. And considering his comment from last year, and I'm paraphrasing, "New York? I left nothing in the tank when I left" Doesn't sound good to me.

Edit: He made Pedroia fall to one knee trying to hit a pitch in the second (not Lugo in the third - my mistake).

What's kind of disappointing is that Igawa is our first two-game winner, while Beckett of the Red Sox already has 5. I'm looking at Wang to come out and show the stuff he had last year.

I was watching the recap of Igawa's SOs - I think five of them were swinging, and they were some nasty pitches. In the third, he made Lugo fall to one knee trying to hit a pitch. Great stuff today.

pitching staff on thursday:

Wang
Pettite
Mussina
Hughes(i thinbk he'll do really well on tuesday)
Igawa

Rivera
Bruney
Henn
Farnsworth
Proctor
Vizcaino
Myers
Rasner

That 13 pitchers so someone will have to be sent down/traded. They are best of having a Long-reliever with Igawa and Hughes in the rotation, so rasner needs to stay. I think Myers will get his act together and get lefties out w/ consistancy. Proctor,Henn, and Bruney are pitching too goo to be sent down. Rivera isn't going anywhere.

So that leaves Farnsworth and Vizcaino for the last spot.

Pete, what are the chances they trade 1 of them?

They'll probably send Rasner or Hughes down though, becauce they don't wanna sell low on either Farnsy or Vizcaino

Amen, Joe from LI. Karstens begs to stay in the game with a broken freakin' leg while that yellowbellied snake Pavano kicks back counting his money with an "injury" that no x-ray machine or MRI can detect.

When does somebody get in this guy's puss, in the middle of the clubhouse, and call him out?

Not that I actually want him to pitch again in Pinstripes (I'll take C. Wright, Rasner or some other rook with a good attitude any day) but I am so sick and tired of seeing camera shots of him sitting in the dugout, yucking it up, like he's an actual member of the team.

Let him sit in the dugout up in Scranton where, if nothing else, he'll have crappier accomodations and less access to prime tail. (No offense ladies of eastern PA.)
