It was a much-needed victory as the Yankees beat the Red Sox yesterday with the pressure on.

The victory came with a price as Jeff Karstens broke his leg after getting hit by a line drive.

Talk about unlikely heroes. Nobody expected Kei Igawa to do what he did against the Red Sox.

In the Sunday baseball notes, we look at the avenues Alex Rodriguez can explore after the season. One thing is certain, it will pay off for him.

Nice job by Igawa, who would have thought he would pitch a gem. When a Yankee pither can get Ortiz to hit into two double plays, that’s impressive.
I wasn’t sure about the error on Arod, but I always find those things shaky. One on Jeter I remember I didn’t agree with either. Anyways, it’s just nice to get a victory.

pardon for the spelling error above, pitcher*

If they pay a-rod an additional $5 mil a year to negate his opt-clause, does texas still pay that 10 mil over the next three years?

Reading some of the fish-wraps this morning. Any chance that the pitching woes should be Billy Connors fault? Everytime the Yankees pitching struggles its either Stottlemyers fault or Guidry’s fault. But when they are running right, it is Connor’s contribution. I say it is not Connor’s contribution. He was not able to correct several pitchers in the past and it was washed away as the pitcher being uncoachable. This hack needs to go away to some fishing boat in the Florida Keys.
