Pete, keep up the great work.. Some people don't realize that your job is more than hanging out watching games and updating the blog every once in a while.

A guy like Kasey needs therapy. What a Debbie Downer you are.

Hughes proved why he is the best prospect in the game. And its a bummer hes out for a month but who here isn't excited to see him back in June?????

Peter is such a condescending hack who thinks too highly of himself. There is a reason Phil Hughes is the top pitching prospect in all of baseball. He has raw talent and works extremely hard. A player of his caliber that works extremely hard would absolutely try to bury a pitch while pitching a no-hitter in AAA. That is what future Rockets do.

You claim you aren't a fan but a reporter. So then why are you so clearly Red Sox biased?

Dionysus,

I hear ya brother, and as a Yankee fan I thank you for your condolences.

I agree with your perspective as well. I am glad you guys have such a powerful young closer like Paps. I'm glad you have as good a team as you do. There is no glory in beating a bunch of third-raters. I want the Sox to be an excellent team - and to play their best when they play us. Only then is there real satisfaction and a sense of accomplisment when we win. And only then are the games grippingly exciting.

So good luck, and I'll buy you a consolation beer after the last game of the ALCS.

Peter! Don't apologize. If you want to, just think of the hysteria as evidence of how addicted everyone is to this great place you've made. There's some of that in people's ridiculous responses.

And many are just lame, so there's that too.

Anyway, you're great.

Rajah of Rehab,

Awesome post, intoning the Emperor from Return of the Jedi as some kind of weird alter-ego of Carl Pavano or whatever phantom is out to destroy this team. The first time I have seen that on this blog.

Hughes (to Pavano, around July 4th): Come with me!

Pavano: Joe Torre once thought as you do. You don't know the power of the Rehab, I must obey Marty Miller.

Hughes: Search your feelings, Carl.

Pavano: It is too late for me, my Phil. Marty Miller will complete your training. He is your master now.

Hughes: Then our season is truly dead...

To be continued....

* Beyond that, obviously he had pulled his left hamstring and was out of the game because of that. You really need this blog to figure that out?

On one hand, it was silly for people to be demanding information the second after Hughes left the game. On the other hand, this seems like such a condescending thing to write to the people who are providing so much traffic to this blog. The toxic relationship between Pete and a good number of bloggers is interesting.

Not going to take you task for it Kasey because I think you are right. The season so far has been a bit of a drag, even the good moments seem to get washed away quickly. That being said, isn't this kind of what sports are all about? I mean, us Yankee fans have been spoiled for a number of years now. Although I would rather be in first place by 10 games running away with the division, I am curiously looking forward to seeing how this team deals with the adverse hand they have been dealt. It will be exciting to see if they can overcome all this and march on to October. My guess is that they will get healthy and they will hit their stride soon. I don't know, as a fan it will be fun to watch our "underdog" team battle back against all odds to make the playoffs. The losing and tough times now are only going to make it that much sweeter for us at the end of the season. So my advice to all is too just have fun being fans and enjoy the season and the challenges for the team ahead.
