Marty Miller is out as “director of performance enhancement.” He refused comment but plenty of other people had something to say.

The Yankees and Rangers play two today. Meanwhile Carl Pavano is headed for Alabama and a visit with Dr. Andrews.

Back later with the lineups for Game 1.

Cashman really seems to have developed a stubborn streak.

His seat is definitely getting hotter. I think his long term approach at getting younger is good, unfortunately he may have gotten control too late, which isn’t necessarily his fault. Next year should be better.

Why don’t they just make A-Rod the strength and conditioning coach? I don’t think anyone in baseball works out as much as him.

Pavano can be the anti-stength and conditioning coach.

I think Roger works out more than him.

At this point, let’s just concentrate on the players we do have. Carl Pavano at this point … I have no words.

    I mean…

    I have no words

Even though Koufax just got drafted, is it too late to make a play for him?

It’s a little scary to think that a bunch of players abandoned Miller’s program and didn’t develop individual workout regimens during the off-season. That should really be addressed asap.

I find myself hoping there is something wrong with his arm. At least that would explain his issues logically and rationally, maybe put it to rest once and for all. Otherwise…wow. Seriously. Wow.

The lack of offseason planning and notice regarding the change of strength and conditioning coach and program is pretty disturbing.

Cash dropped the ball on this.

If it wasnt broke, why fix it? Why change programs for someone whos never had success in the majors?

Cashman could get fired for this.

Is it just me, or has there got to be something truly wrong with Carl Pavano? I mean, he can’t simply be described as injury-prone or soft. There has got to be something REALLY going haywire in his body. I honestly think his muscle tissues don’t regenerate or repair themselves as they should. I mean, didn’t he miss significant time last year with a “bruised buttocks”? Does he have an autoimmune disease?

We saw the same thing with Giambi in 2004. He had a myriad of weird injuries that had to be more than just bad luck or poor conditioning. There was clearly something really screwy going on with him, and I think pretty much everyone knew it was steroids-related.

Either Carl Pavano is an evolutionary anomaly, an abomination of a human being that wouldn’t have the slightest chance of survival if we were still a nomadic species, or he’s putting substances in his body that he shouldn’t. Heroin, perhaps?

    I’m only half-joking.

I really think that the Yankees need a reliable starter. Although, the prospect of Leiber back in pinstripes is not particularly appealing, it’s not a bad idea. What about Ollendorf?

Nice to know that Miller asked for signed balls on the way out the door – have to hand it to him takes a lot of chutzpah after you have pretty much decemated the t eam with injuries

Can’t blame this one on the Tampa guys. Cashman has a lot of ‘splaining to do.

I find it funny Carl says “I’ve pitched long enough to know…” You haven’t pitched in YEARS, how the H*ll would you know?

Something has got to be up with this guy…wheter is Giamib-esque, illegal drugs (like DEA type stuff), or just a lack of guts I don’t know.

Personally I’m wondering if Cashman signed him as sme sort of tax write off. Writing off expenses vs income or booking a loss against capital gains. This is ridiculous.

Why can’t the players be held responsible? They’re the ones that have been doing the workouts. If I knew that stretching with a rubberband was helpful to me – I’d spare some of my millions and make my way to Dicks Sporting Goods for a big ol’ rubber band for $9.99.

If they’re too cheap – they deserve it.
