  13. andrew 33 May 6th, 2007 at 3:16 pm

no offense, i’m sure everyone is excited, but i’d have preferred to try and get it done this year with mussina, pettite, wang —- and then rasner and crew until hughes gets back

clemens walked away in 03 lets not forget
and take a look at the averages in the boston lineup, yes the pitching is top notch but that lineup besides the 2 monsters is not great

i cant wait to read mike lupicas whiny article tmrw

  14. Kim May 6th, 2007 at 3:16 pm

  28. Brett May 6th, 2007 at 3:20 pm

that was so amazing, one of the coolest surprises i ever remember watching during a yankees game on tv.

  29. General Tsos Chicken May 6th, 2007 at 3:20 pm

Get Roger and Phil together ASAP! Can’t wait until Hughes is fully healthy and Roger and him can work together!!!! AHHH!!!@!

  30. Doreen May 6th, 2007 at 3:21 pm

Way, Way cool to have Roger make the announcement during the game, and then flash it on the scoreboard! Man! What a surprise!

  31. BBFan May 6th, 2007 at 3:22 pm

With Clemens back, after Hughes returns the starting rotation will be:

    Clemens
    Wang
    Mussina
    Pettitte
    Hughes

    Pretty good, isn’t it.
It will certainly match up well with Boston.

And, Roger will be the enforcer. Other teams can hit our batters at thier own peril!

  32. marcus May 6th, 2007 at 3:22 pm

    The Rocket is back!!

  33. Joe from Long Island May 6th, 2007 at 3:22 pm

To all those who were absolutely sure that they “knew” that Clemens was going to sign with Boston because of whatever…This shows that we, the fans, do not know everythng that is going on behind the scenes.

By the way, same line applies to Rasner’s pitch count. Maybe with time he can go longer, but he pitched great today. He did his job.

  34. Josh #2 May 6th, 2007 at 3:27 pm

Clemens just said first start he hopes before end of the month, or first week of June!

  35. Josh May 6th, 2007 at 3:27 pm

wow im gleeful right now :)

  36. Reflaxion May 6th, 2007 at 3:28 pm

    NICE.

  37. Wouter May 6th, 2007 at 3:30 pm

Pete, you didn’t predict this? What a night to have a crappy mlb.tv connection… So cool that Andy was clueless about it. So excited (and very relieved that Boston didn’t get him, that rotation could have been very hard to catch up to)! Oh, do you think they flashed this on the scoreboard in Minnesota? ;o)

  38. CGramazio May 6th, 2007 at 3:33 pm

I think this is fantastic news, and this assures Torre’s job is safe…so now we don’t have to hear anymore fire Torre threads, myself included. So let’s sit back and enjoy this. The rotations sure looks a lot better now.

  39. jb May 6th, 2007 at 3:38 pm

Will he be making a series of minor league starts to tune up? That’s what he did last year with the Astros.

  40. jennifer May 6th, 2007 at 4:00 pm

BBfan. What a rotation!! the soxs are shaking in their redsoxs!!

  41. Phil May 6th, 2007 at 5:05 pm

Bye, Carl, take a seat, Papi.

  42. Phelps for BUC.... May 6th, 2007 at 5:10 pm

a strong 6 innings everytime out and Hughes will have a tutor

  43. kris May 6th, 2007 at 7:24 pm

    kasey
    May 5th, 2007 at 9:27 pm

    >i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: clemens isn’t coming to a team with an unstable bullpen and a real knack for finding ways to lose games. he said he wants another championship, and boston is his best opportunity. by a country mile, at this point.). so, that leaves the yankees with three good-to-decent starters and two massive question marks. that’s not exactly a recipe for success.

Dude, you are right and all that about the yanks and bosox. But it’s time for you to eat crow. Not that I think Clemens will be that great to begin with… but your prediction was off by a OLDE country mile.

  44. Yankee killer May 7th, 2007 at 3:49 pm

What will be the Yankee’s excuse for not winning when the payroll is $300 million? They’ve reached a new level of absurdity, and that performance by Susan yesterday was embarassing for any fan of baseball. Yikes.
