Here’s why Rasner came out

I was a little surprised that Joe Torre took Darrell Rasner out after 80 pitches. Then I looked it up:

Rasner’s appearances this season:

April 8: 4.1 innings, 76 pitches
April 14: 5.1 innings, 78 pitches
April 19: 4.1 innings, 81 pitches
April 24 (for Scranton): 1.0 innings
April 29 (for Scranton): 5.0 innings, 82 pitches

So based on what he had done this season, he was right at his limit. I’m not sure I’d want to press my luck with two on, a two-run lead and Richie Sexson at the plate.

Personally, I would have left him in. But it’s a tough call.
